Unwanted Companion Music play

I don’t know if this is bug or feature but as soon as I start the companion app my music app starts playing. Music stops if I swipe to a different app and resumes when I come back to companion. I don’t want this. How do I stop it. Can’t find anything in the settings and this just began this week after using companion app for years. Galaxy S21, Companion 3.79.0, pulls up Radio Paridise App. To my knowledge I didn’t do anything to turn it on.

Hi @Mike_Dew ,welcome back to the Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.

The Zwift Companion app does not have built-in music playback or a dedicated music player. Instead, it acts as a controller for the game, and users typically play music through separate apps. This looks more like an Android system behavior where your phone resumes the last audio app when Companion requests background access.

First, check the app permissions and clear the cache. If the issue persists, consider doing a full reinstall of the Companion app. This will reset permissions, etc. Additionally, try restarting your phone.

Thanks for bringing this.

Ride On.

I‘m experiencing similar effects (iPhone, Music app, AirPods). Zwift doesn‘t start or skip a track but it happens quite often that the music volume goes down the moment I come to a stop or a workout block ends. It’s been happening so very often that I don’t believe it‘s a coincidence.

Shuji at Zwift HQ here. As Francisco says - Zwift Companion does not have music playback functionality.

Is it possible your earbuds connect to your phones in a way that they auto-launch your music player app of choice? Perhaps that’s a setting in your OS, or perhaps a setting in the music app, but Zwift Companion is not taking control of your music app.

Thanks.. Still searching. Appreate responses as I try to narrow it down!
