Unable to download a ride - and it didn't auto-upload [July 2021] [SOLVED]

As my previous posts says for the Apple TV4k ride I did that didn’t upload, I put the fit file through gotoes, a ride merging site that uploads to Strava after randomising the ID of the (possibly merged) ride(s). It was the identical ID to my warmup ride from which I had transferred tot eh group ride that stopped it being accepted by Strava (it rejects identical IDs). It DID then upload, but it WAS the same ride as my warmup ride. Somehow Zwift (event hough the ride has the right duration, distance etc) had replaced the ride with my warmup ride. I have had issues before with no photos being automatically uploaded on rides where I transfer in from a warmup ride (even in the same world) and although Zwift corrected the immediate abort that used to cause, they have never resolved the lack of screenshot in the dialog when saving the ride. I have to do that manually afterwards.

I did a warmup - uploaded to Zwift and Strava fine. Did a race - only race title and result on Zwift, not on Strava but it is on ZwiftPower.

argh… just completed the Roval challenge, busted a gut and no upload to strava! cant access the activity through my.zwift as greeted by a white screen

Hi.
This problem happens when I jump to the start pen after logging into an event, race, etc., right?
When I just freeride after logging in, it’s saved correctly.

What’s most frustrating is that this bug disproptionately affects events and rides you care about, not standard world-noodling.

I had this same bug happen to me again, this time on the Specialised/Roval Climbing Challenge. I went absolutely flat out/as hard as I could up Vent-Top/Ventoux for over an hour, snagged a jersey and look like I probably set a personal best for one-hour power… except that I’ll never know becude Zwift lost the data. To say this is frustrating is an understatement, its unforgiveable.

Why haven’t Zwift rolled this update back? Its clearly not fit for purpose. With the weekend coming up this needs sorting TODAY @shooj

Zwift are basically scammers at this point.

They like taking your 15USD (EXPENSIVE AF) per month and not actively doing anything to make sure the QUALITY of their software is good before release.

Have fun paying to alpha test their ■■■■ codes.

EDIT: Zwift, just please do a software rollback already, or heck, please show the manager of the software dev team how much of a circus their department is.

And me WTRL TTT posted on FB zwift riders

Sadly the fit file from the website shows 4seconds only however the data went to ZwiftPower fine - how do get the data from zwift power ?

You can download the fit file from ZwiftPower but it is 530bytes and is essentially null (empty), the same as the local file on your device - so its of no use to you. The data is corrupt (null) on your local device so you can’t retrieve from anywhere no matter what integrations you have set up - if it has uploaded anywhere, its the same duff (bad) data as on your local device. The issue is a local bug in your Zwift software, so the data isn’t there in the first place to get synced to or uploaded anywhere.

ie despite the metadata ride summary on ZwiftPower looking correct (avg watts etc), the underlying fit file is blank or corrupt. The same is true for the same data in JSON format stored in the same S3 bucket - its blank and does not load, which is why you cannot view the activity on zwift website when you click on it (it loads activity data by fetching the JSON file from AWS S3 bucket)

Shooj is still misunderstanding this - the fit file is not corrupt in a way that can be restored or fixed - its not just mainly right with a couple of errors, its entirely blank. So it cannot be fixed or restored or recovered.

Same issue! I joined the WTRL TTT from my warm up with the pace partner and I have only the stats from the ride with B. Brevet and lost all information from the race.
If I download fit files on my Zwift feed, the 2 files are exactly the same!

Really? This is actually the first major issue I’ve had since Jarvis was in Beta.

I have the same issues as most folks have reported here. My problem first occurred on the Zwift Classics - The Apple Lap and then on my regular CIS Wednesday World’s (group training ride). For the first ride: Map is completely wrong (looks like Tempus Fugit route and not NYC) and uploading the fit file I am not getting credit for fully mileage. On the Wednesday Worlds…Zwift shows the right distance….but when uploading says my ride was 1km. Zwift I do care about getting back all of my mileage, hopefully you can issue a fix ASAP.

Yes, this fix seems to work for me (fully exiting the app after/before each ride).

Same… just did 100km with KRT :weary: it’s due to recent Zwift firmware updates. Even the saved .fit file is corrupted to be uploaded to Strava :smiling_face_with_tear:

I suggest you manually enter your rides in Strava, if that is your preferred app for tracking. You can enter mileage, climb, duration, but I suspect the detailed time series (“telemetry”) of power, HR, cadence etc. are likely lost forever. The temporary fix that is now working for me is to fully exit the app after/before each ride.

Here here! Same problem. Have thrown Apple TV in the corner and using a Mac mini until this gets resolved.

I’ve been having all the same problems mentioned previously and have been tearing my hair out trying to resolve it on my own.

I’m using ATV 4k so that explains my issue.

For me, I’ve found a short term fix in the hope Zwift sort this out.

I use a KICKR Core. I play the ride on ATV. I use an iPad to run Zwift Companion app. whilst riding. On the same iPad I also run Wahoo Fitness app. At the start of a group ride I now start the work out on the Wahoo app. At the end of the ride I stop the Wahoo ride and save it. I then manually upload the fit file to Strava (in my case). I know it’s not an exact version of the Zwift ride, but it’s close enough for me.

I guess this only works for KICKR users. Maybe there’s a similar option for other trainer brands?

For one, this bug is actually a degraded one from one which they should have fixed after the introduction of the “NEW” feature that allows you to not restart Zwift to enter new rides. The original bug is one where instead of separating it into two activities during your otherworld warmups, the whole ride is compressed and merged into one, giving you TWO completely different segments from two different rides. You will notice the teleportation from X to Y across the continent on your uploaded ride on Strava.

It was already present in the previous releases. Why can’t they “TEST THEIR SOFTWARE” before their next release? It’s a very obvious bug that any normal developer would have noticed if they bothered to test their software.

If they pinpointed that bug, fix it before it rolls into the convoluted mess we have today, this wouldn’t have happened.

Software QA doesn’t need to be complex.

Yes thankfully I’ve got my iPad Mini and will run Zwift tomorrow on that too meanwhile. Fingers crossed no same issue but to be safe do a test short ride first and try to save it and see if it uploads okay to all my others 3rd party platforms… instead of spending 2.5hrs one like I just did with KRT for 100km :joy::sweat_smile:

LOL Most of us obviously are living by the Strava phrase - “If it’s not in Strava, it didn’t happen” So true…
