Teleport crashing

Am I alone in experiencing zwift crashing when teleporting on my apple tv set up?

I’ve tried reinstalling the app but it hasn’t helped.

It’s coincided since I updated a few days ago.

Just to confirm: are you force-closing the Zwift app after each use?

Ive just searched AI to see what you mean and NO I haven’t been force closing it. I usually just finish my ride, back out to the main menu, and let my Apple TV go to sleep with the app still open. I didn’t realise it stays running in the background.

Doing the force-quit might not solve your issue, but it’s definitely a good place to start. It seems to ‘solve’ myriad issues on ATV (and other devices).

Please pop back after trying this to let the community know if this fixed the issue, or not.

:crossed_fingers:

Force-quitting the app is definitely a good idea, but re-installing it should have the same effect (for the activity immediately after re-installing it). Removing the app effectively quits it as well.

Crashed again. Luckily just after i crossed the ttt finish banner.
Any other troubleshooting I could do?

You could reset the ATV device. It’s pretty quick and easy. I’m still not noticing other reports like yours but you could also check with Zwift support since they hear about things that I don’t.

I will try the reset

Thanks as “Reset” seems to have worked.

I also set “upload screenshot” to never.

:crossed_fingers:

Spoke too soon..zwift crashed when I was toggling in the menu.

No idea why

Only support can see your game logs, because you’re using Apple TV. You should contact them, tell them what you’ve tried already, and ask for an explanation

I have also been experiencing crashing/dropped rides on Zwift using ATV for over a month now. It happens sometimes during a race, right as I’m attempting a Teleport, and often right after saving the ride. I have lost too many rides to count so far. If I get to the save option and it works for me I’m ecstatic. After every use, I unplug everything from power including ATV so the app is being shut down every time as a result of that. Also I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling Zwift app on my ATV and that did not help. If anything the problem just keeps getting worse and more frequent.

What Appletv model are you using?

A1625

I know its old as dirt lol but Zwift is the only thing I use on it and like I said I used to have no issues and recently its gotten really bad with the dropouts.

That’s same set up and experience I’m having. I’ve had a response from zwift support who are looking into it.

This is the one that is always running into memory exhaustion problems due to having only 2GB RAM.

If I were to upgrade to a ATV 4K 3rd gen that has I believe 4GB RAM but 64GB capacity (not 128) would that be good to run just Zwift without dropouts? I"m not sure if the capacity matters (64 vs 128GB). Thanks.

With this in mind I’ve ordered the newest model

Need Paul to wiegh in here. I’ve ordered a refurbished 4k 128 as it also has an ethernet port that I also currently use with my A1625. I think the 64 is strictly wifi only with no ethernet port.

When you say “dropout” are you talking about the game unexpectedly closing? Your earlier comment talked about game crashes, which can certainly be associated with insufficient memory. If you mean a trainer disconnection (dropout) there are several other possible causes for that.

Ultimately you and I do not have access to your game logs that might say something about the crash, because Apple TV does not support access to logs. Only Zwift support can see that information (and they are better equipped to understand what they are looking at as well). However I can tell you that Apple devices with 2GB RAM have run into stability problems due to low memory on many occasions because they are always extremely close to the intended memory budget for the game. It’s nice to have more of a buffer in case a game release uses slightly more RAM than anticipated.

If you want to be more certain before spending money on it, ask support to look at your logs and explain the crashes.
