Anyone have a Tacx Neo 2dt with a zwift bike? I’m having power drop issues especially when I put a lot of power down on a hill, I’ve been getting a lot of resistance drop. It feels like I’m going from gear 16 to gear 1 and then I have to wait a few moments for the resistance to come back. I’m not sure if it’s fly wheel can’t keep up with the virtual gears or what? It’s not a connection drop issue because this is an occuring problem especially attacking on hills. My firmware and everything is up to date.
@GPLama do you have any insight about whether this could be virtual tire slip on a Neo 2T?
Sounds like virtual slip or overheating. I’d check to see if both internal fans are fully functional.
When I start up my Neo I can hear the front of back fans humming, so I don’t think that’s the case?
Did you get anywhere with this? I’m experiencing something that sounds very similar to what you describe. Sudden loss of resistance, especially in racing. All data from my race is reported near perfect, e.g. when checking analytics on Zwift Power. On my end it appears that my Tacx Neo 2T will go a little crazy from time to time, and I am ending up in gear 24, pedalling some 110+ RPM for a while - sometimes minutes, before all of a sudden resistance returns. I’m in 24th… so first I’m rocketing through the group, especially annoying in a Team Time Trial Race.. And then I have to shift down to a comfortable gear. I’m lucky if I don’t lose the group I’m in when this happens. And sometimes, when it happens as the sprint begins, I’m obviously not able to compete with the others.
I’m on Windows Gaming PC. Tacx Neo 2T paired over ANT, except Resistance, that has to be paired using Bluetooth to communicate with the Click.
I’m now back to a cassette and that works. Running out of ideas what to check for to be able to use virtual shifting on my trainer ![]()
I have experienced this previously, literally been no resistance change when going from gears 17-24 doesnt happen all the time though
Glad I found this post. I didn’t realize Tacx has that same “bluetooth only” for VS. Not all brands are like that. Elite is and I was thinking of switching to Tacx 3M to also het the virtual flywheel and roadfeel. No point if it has a similar problem.
Is anyone using the wired/wifi adapter and also experiencing this? With the adapter is bluetooth also required for VS?
Garmin uses an electronic brake that can change resistance instantly (which allows the road feel) but might explain the loss of resistance. Perhaps there is an absence of data from the game so the trainer stops.
On the Elite they use magnets that are physically moved from off the spinning disc to over it. When the shifting stops responding it stays at whatever resistance is current.
Does anyone use the Alpine gradient simulator? Does it continue to function during the problems? My Rizer behaves erratically when the resistance is acting up, either not responding, or moving the wrong way for current terrain which seems to be just getting the information for past terrain.
I have not experienced this issue at all as of yet on my 2T, I just got an alpine.
But I don’t use this setup but maybe once or twice a week.
This is on my garage setup with MacOS10 and everything on bluetooth; not using any zwift hardware.
With the Tacx Network Adapter virtual shifting works over lan/wifi. At least on the 3M.
