I just got back on Zwift after a long Summer as I do each year. I began by riding many of the new rides in New York & Makuri Island, but noticed the green start point is showing up many miles from the actual start point with a straight black line to the actual course. The rest of the map looks normal. Below is a pic as an example. Any idea what’s causing this? It only appears to be happening with the new courses.
This is a known issue on 1.100 and Zwift have a fix in the pipeline, I understand.
Looks like you’re first entering NY near the original start pens, before getting teleported to the start of the new route. This is a bug, but it won’t impact anything other than what the map looks like.
You can get similar things on outdoor rides when you start recording before you get a solid gps fix.
Thanks! Good to know it is being addressed.
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. Yup, we’re aware and working on it. In your example - is that Strava, Garmin, or some other third party partner?
Strava! There are a few rides where a map was normal, but most looked similar to the pic I posted.
UPDATE:
We’ve identified a fix for this, but it didn’t make it in time for this week’s game version 1.101 release cycle. It is scheduled for the following release.
Thank you. I’ll be looking for the update.
If this has been covered already, apologies in advance. Suddenly when I upload a Zwift activity to RideWithGPS, extra miles are being added there. There is a spurious segment at the beginning, sometimes up to 8 miles long or more, that is just a straight shot from some random starting point to the actual route start that has nothing to do with the Zwift route. I load everything into RideWithGPS so I can track stuff along with my regular outdoor rides, so now that’s not accurate. Zwift appears to be ignoring the extra segment, but you can see it in Companion. See image below. RWGPS is treating it as miles you actually rode. But it takes zero time to ride it, so my average speed is also messed up.
I looked through my history on Zwift and RWGPS, and this began happening on October 25. Prior to that, my RWGPS has been identical for as long as I’ve been on Zwift (several years now). I don’t think it’s their issue because these spurious segments just started showing up on Zwift. RWGPS just doesn’t know how to ignore them. My cousin uses Strava so I’ve asked him if it’s also happening there.
It doesn’t appear to be affecting Zwift but if you upload a ride to RideWIthGPS, and apparently Strava too, the spurious segment is included in the miles, and it takes zero time to “ride” them so it is also affecting average speed etc.
