Staying in B cat

Firstly, I know categories are becoming more meaningless now, but a personal goal of mine is to stay in B category, and I’m only a couple of weeks from demotion. I was upgraded the beginning of September based on a 5 minute effort that took my zMAP over 4.1 w/kg. I haven’t improved it since then.

I understand we don’t know how zMAP is calculated, but in order to stay in B do I just need to do another 4.1/4.2 w/kg effort for about 6 minutes?

I managed it at the weekend by starting to go up the Grade, but probably due to the pain :joy: I ended the activity just after the 6 minutes and I guess there must be a minimum distance or time for activities as it wasn’t saved :smiling_face_with_tear:

Minimum distance of 2Km to save an activity.

I can’t recall its name, but one route starts at the pens near The Grade, turns right and then does a u-turn at ~3Km to then head up The Grade.

I’m hoping actual data for 5-6mins, rather than predicted data, becomes the replacement seed score for Racing Score.

Minimum distance for saving is 2km. I would have expected you to get that far…

Thanks both, I remember I just got past the middle bit where it flattens on the Grade, so it’s entirely possible I only did 1.9km or something :sob: :joy: Out of curiosity I’ll check the log in case it mentions anything.
Does my plan of how to stay in category sound correct?

Thanks.

There’s probably a fit file in your Documents\Zwift folder for that ride, which you could upload to a ride tracking app or fit file tools.

I think if you do 4.2 for 6 min you’ll probably get there. Or do 5 and you certainly will :sunglasses:

If you’re doing it on a climb as you did, you can also do a u-turn and coast down to pad the distance if necessary

Thanks Paul, yes the log file showed I only did 1.86km, won’t make that mistake again :joy:
