Single Speed on Zwift Cog?

Has anyone ever done a SS with a Zwift cog? I have an All City Nature Boy that I am trying to use as my dedicated indoor trainer bike. The chain is very loud, it sticks to the big/small teeth on the front chainring, and the chain in the back wobbles a bit (maybe due to the oversize chain). Any set up solutions you may have found with this? (Yes, the flat pedals and birks will be switched…) Or is the zwift cog not supposed to work with this setup?

I am new to the world of Single Speeds, so I’m not entirely sure if it may be because the chain is too tight, too loose, or the quick release isn’t aligned within the dropouts… But I have messed around with all of those things trying to correct the noise and sticky chain.

Can you provide more details about the bike and chain? Issues you see on the front chainring won’t be related to the cog

Is this a track bike, with track-pitch components?

Sure, I do have a video, but not sure how to link that here…

The bike is a All-City Nature Boy (rear drop outs are 130 i believe), and the chain is a thicker KMC either K1 or K1SL (not sure if it is wide or narrow… definitely thicker than a normal road chain.

No, it’s an All City Nature Boy.

If this is the chain that you have on the bike normally, and it doesn’t ‘stick’ when not on the trainer, that definitely sounds like a strange issue. Having a bit of extra play on the Cog makes sense with the wider chain, though.

is it possible that the chain is just too tight? Can you shorten the wheelbase a bit to see if that helps?

What trainer are you using?

It may be yes. I have not had too much time to mess around with it as did a short ride and had to get out the door with the family. But I will try both of those things; It seems kind of difficult to align the quickrelease within the drop outs. Would that affect anything?

I am using an Elite Suito trainer with the Zwift Cog and Clicks (v2)

If the chainring is designed for an 1/8” chain and you put a 3/32” chain on it, that could explain it. If so, you could replace the chainring with one designed for a 1x multi gear bike.
