Joined zwift mainly to do virtual club rides during covid-19, which i am liking very much. However is there a way to reduce the rider list when doing a group ride to only see the people who I am following…Currently there are thousands of riders on the course and the list is excessive and I am only interested in our own club riders.

Your club could host meetups which then highlight the people in the meet up in the list of riders. There are issues/complaints with meetups however (limit 100 people for example).
Other than that I don’t think so.

Try an off-schedule world when organizing the meetup. For example, we did Innsbruckring this week which was virtually empty (you’ll see way fewer riders vs. the always-available Watopia).
The key thing is all invitees must be ON TIME as there is no “ride with” option for latecomers when the world isn’t on the schedule for a particular day.
