Half-way through a session the Thumbs-Up (ride-on) icon disappears from my Companion toolbar and doesn’t reappear during the balance of that session although it does appear again at the start of the next session. I am running W10 on my laptop and Android (Samsung) cell. This just started happening this past week.
Whilst it doesn’t fix the problem that you are having, the ride on icon doesn’t actually do anything other than make a noise.

… or at least by renamed so new zwifters know it doesn’t give a ride on!

No, that doesn’t make a noise (at least I don’t think so as I have sounds turned off)
