Remove Old Friend Request Button

At the moment, unless you keep a list outside of Zwift it is impossible to see friend requests that went to private users.

Although I kind of understand the logic behind it is annoying for the user who made the request that they can’t rescind it.

A simple way to resolve this would be either:

  1. A button to remove unanswered requests to private users
  2. Or have these request timeout automatically, perhaps after 1 month.

I am pretty sure a SQL function to remove unanswered requests to private users would be very simple.

Thanks

This would be a reasonable solution. If the request is unanswered after a month then it probably isn’t going to be answered anyway.

I also ignore most follow requests unless it is someone I know very well.

As someone that ignores follow requests on a regular basis, why is it annoying to you that you can’t easily find it to rescind it? Meaning why do you want to rescind it?

Just trying to understand :slightly_smiling_face:

I enjoy following people and giving them high 5s etc. However I only want to follow people who follow me back. Removing non-private requests is easy but I can’t do the same with private ones. Generally I try not to request to follow private riders anymore, but I know I have about 40 outstanding that stops me from following other people instead.

this will be unimportant for lots of people but it is really annoying for those us who want to maximise our friends .

It seems a really simple fix to clear them out when 1 month old so hoping this will get some traction.

Is there a limit to the number of requests you can make? Again, just trying to understand.

I usually just ignore requests but if that causes issues, I can deny them instead.

5000 is the limit including unresponded requests. I have got to 4960 .

The only time I sent out many follow requests was when I was trying to get the Bigger than Jensie badge.
Once I had that, I unfollowed most of the people I didn’t need/want to follow.

This has been brought up in a few different contexts. Your suggestion is a good one, and there are several other related features that would be useful, such as filtering for people who follow you but you didn’t follow back, filtering for people whom you follow but haven’t followed you back, etc. I don’t see a good product-related reason for the arbitrary limit of 5000, though it’s possible there is a technical reason.

I wish it was also easier to remove the random followers, I have quite a few randos that I should’ve removed as soon as they started following me. Now it takes forever to go through the list and remove someone, then it forces you to start the entire process over from the start:

click on your profile in companion app
click on followers
wait for list to populate
scroll until you find a rando
click on rando
click to unfollow rando
click back arrow on screen
returns you to home screen
start process over again…

Even Strava doesn’t allow you to see the ones who aren’t following you (but are on your following list). However there are scripts that allow you to do that job and find those folks who silently unfollow you, then you can block them. Or the reverse of that, ones you mistakenly didn’t follow.

On Zwift I just block the random followers I don’t know. Or the ones who teleport to me half way up a big climb and then U-turn to get free downhill distance. (I’m not the only one who does this).

That’s not relevant to this feature request. It’s for people who do care about having followers and following people in large numbers.

Filtering for people who haven’t followed you back would not be good for the community aspect of Zwift and probably shouldn’t be made possible. It could end up causing disputes between users. Following and following back on social platforms is sometimes taken very seriously.

It’s also irrelevant to this feature request, isn’t it? Why the point of that anyway, it doesn’t make a nice experience if everyone starts jumping on everyone else for the slightest “off topic” or “not relevant”.

It would allow people to focus their limited number of follow requests on mutual followers if they want. Quite similar to the desire to drop unfulfilled follow requests.
