A red thumbs up never shows up when I receive one on the game itself. I’m using Windows surface. Also if I give a thumbs up on ZC or does not show up on the nearby riders list PC.
The ride on thumb icon is supposed to be blue, but I assume you are not seeing that either.
Which model of Surface do you have? Does it have an Intel CPU or ARM?
Have you already tried Re-Installing Zwift ?
If the nearby riders list you mean is the one on the main screen, not in the Companion App, then they don’t show there anyway. The thumbs that appear there are for when that rider has done a PB or taken a jersey, to make it easier to give a Ride On for that person.
Yesterday I received 30 ride ons but was not aware of receiving any until the ride ended and I looked at the stats. Wouldn’t I receive a notification somewhere in real time, either the game console or ZC ?
Where would I need to look to see a ride on in real time?
You get a Ride On thumb above your avatar’s head that drops into your jersey pocket. The top centre HUD where your route/event progress is gives you a written notification of who left it. You’ll also get an audible ping louder than when left for others.
PC sounds fine. I’m unsure whether the problem is real or misunderstanding, but the top center part of the HUD should show some text that says the name of a person who gave you a ride on. If that doesn’t happen, something is amiss and I would consider the clean re-install process I linked above. Also when you look at the activity in the Companion app afterwards, that counter for ride ons will include those given after you were done riding so you would not necessarily see them during the activity.
Another thing you could do is watch a recent video from some popular YouTube Zwift rider (they will have many followers and get a lot of ride ons) and see if it looks like what you see. For example here’s a still from one of Ryan Condon’s videos. See the blue thumbs-up over the avatar, and above it the name of the person who gave it.
Thanks,
I will reinstall and my eyes never went to top of HUD to see ride on. Ill have to check that!!
In an unrelated question. I usually see the power profile at the bottom of the screen along with colored power bars. Recently, despite pressing G to get the power profile to reappear i seem to be missing the power bars. Should they always be present? My FTP is correct in the profile settings.
Any thoughts on what to check? This too might be resolved with the reinstall, perhaps…
