Recommendations for treadmills

Hi I’m currently looking to buy a home treadmill to start using Zwift run along side my bike. Any suggestions as to which treadmill works best?

Having worked on domestic treadmills, I wouldn’t recommend any of them. Unfortunately they are so far away from commercial ones you find in Gyms its not even funny. I would opt for a bike rather than a treadmill.

Thanks Carl I already have a bike set up but would like to add in the running to my training. Is there any commercial grade treadmills you recommend?

Plenty of runners here get on fine with their home treadmills. I would try posting this in the dedicated Running forum.

If @Run.10K.Every.Day is around he can answer this. Looks like you are in Ireland? Options vary by region.

Totally wrong in my opinion.

The domestic treadmill market whilst having some poor offerings also has numerous high quality options which if well maintained can offer an immersive and realistic experience.

Hi Sue-Ellen,

I’m a treadmill running specialist with many years experience of the evolution of treadmills from a user and engineer basis.

Without doubt the decision around what to buy is always dictated by budget.
Then as Paul points out there are geographical restrictions as to what’s available in your area.

I’m a brand ambassador for NoblePro so will always lean towards those but if you let me know your budget and country I can advise accordingly.

I’ve written an article which you might find useful to help you decide also.

Thank you Stuart I appreciate the advice I’m in Northern Ireland and ideally would like to spend no more than £1500

Well post up your recommendations then.

£1500 is a decent budget.
NoblePro can deliver to N.Ireland so below is my top recommendation.

I can offer you a discount code for an extra 4% off too.

NoblePro® E8s Starter NoblePro® E8s Starter

The E8s is a well built solid piece of kit that does everything you’ll need to connect in Zwift seamlessly. NoblePro are the UK number 1 Zwift connectivity brand.

There are more budget friendly options but your compromise on some of the important things. The reebok range have weak motors.

Nordictrack tend to lock you into their subscription based ifit app and won’t connect directly to Zwift.

Have a look around and if you see something you like I’ll happily give you my thoughts

Many thanks I have looked at the noble pro briefly I’ll definitely take a better look and would appreciate the discount code as every little bit helps. Thanks again

for Zwift and for bikes, isn’t the recommendation by default that if you can afford, get a smart wheel-off trainer, versus a dumb and/or wheel-on trainer? Wouldn’t the equivalent for treadmills be something that has FTMS and works with Zwift gradient and speed data?

It’s not that simple John.

Some brands despite being FTMS enabled lock this down to their own apps for example.

hence the “and works with Zwift…” qualifier

If you use this link to enter the website the discount should be applied at checkout. Come back to me if not.
