Racing Score Update - [Nov 12 2025]

What about people returning from serious injury or illness? Having had several months off the bike due to a serious illness, I now find myself racing still in the 690-1000 category when I’d be lucky to hang on to the wheels of a Cat C race! Very demoralising to enter a ZRS race to then get spat out the back within the first minute or so. If you have several months of totally inactivity, practically all fitness is lost and getting back to your ‘old levels’ can take months and months (if not longer some older riders)

If score movements work properly, you’d lose a race or two and be where you should. As it is we get most races blown up by someone in a too-low pen due to decay.

Your current problem is one of ZRS not working as it should, not a lack of decay issue.

A very small portion of people who have been away from zwift are likely in that situation. Unfortunately decay treats everyone who has been away as though they are. So for every one person who has to enter a race too strong for their current fitness, there are dozens able to enter races against people who have no chance of keeping up.

Enter races, finish those races, finish last and your score will plummet. If you haven’t recorded anything near your previous power recently, then the anti-tanking measures shouldn’t prevent your score dropping. The hardest part to that is that there are often others trying to lose to tank their scores, and you have to finish behind them.

If that’s all too hard, plead your case with zwift support to get your power profile and score reset.

Seed score 5min power bests only last for 90 days, if you’ve had several months off your seed score (and so your floor) will be much lower now if you aren’t putting out anything like the old power numbers.

Join small field pens, put in an honest effort and your ZRS should plummet towards your current ability, if you finish in the bottom half of the pen results. Having said that, you ought to get a good score drop from short series races, like a Tiny Races quartet or similar.

I went through this ~3 years ago under Category Enforcement, I used to be an A/B racer and it took a few months to start dropping through the ability pens to pen D. Once ZRS began, I was in the weakest pen (E) and only very recently I’ve reached 212, at the very bottom of pen D for ZwiftHQ events.

Be very careful how much racing you are doing after prolonged injury/illness.

the upper right graphic is always showing the incorrect current ZRS for me

image

current ZRS is 435, but the upper right says 394

mine shows correct, wonder if its do with some changes to the race score zwift have done as your last zrs race shows +1 to 394, you did 4wkg for 5min in the wtrl race so maybe it that which has affected the score

Does that include race setups as ITT, WTRL TTT? Ladder races? Are Private Races also part of this package?

What does the graph show as the latest ZRS just below the wrong ZRS.

his graph shows 394..i going to guess it’ll be that 5 min effort that’s changed his score

TTT is definitely included because that’s the only racing I’ve done lately and it undid all of my decay when retroactively applied.

This is interesting…if you haven’t done ZRS but you have done other races your Decay is removed.

BUT if you have been without ZRS Race for 2 months and you have done a ZRS race on Sunday your Decay is not removed. FFS

I heard rumours that this issue was resolved 1-2 hours ago and was caused by a discrepancy between the ZRS reported with your last race, and the official ZRS reported by the Zwift API. Now it shows only the official one.

Have you guys had ZRS Re-calculated after doing an event today, or is it being done to everyone automatically? Mine hasn’t changed today yet, maybe still re-calculating…

How to I see my ZRS seed value? I have the ZP ZRS plugin but it doesn’t show that.

Is this in effect for all zwift races? So, you can only enter a ZRS Pen based on your Max-30 day ZRS value? is that correct? This would be great to prevent ZRS manipulation, aka Tiny Races.

That sounds a ridiculous state of affairs, if others are also reporting their decay hasn’t been cancelled.:frowning:

I think the magic date is 9/25 to where they started the decay clock, so if nothing after 30 days, decay starts… this seems to be what you are seeing.
