I login to the app on macOS, and then the silicone app loads, and I get a prompt to enter my password, as if I entered the wrong password, or it wasn’t passed to the second app. It seems to happen rather frequently too. At least it doesn’t take 5 minutes or more to load, so far.
But the password thing is a new wrinkle, and and odd one. I did a wipe and reinstall which wasn’t about this error, but didn’t fix it either.
I’m sorry to hear that you are facing login issues while getting a prompt to enter your password. Here are some steps that might help resolve the password prompt problem:
Ensure that “AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys” is enabled in macOS settings. Go to System Settings > Passwords > AutoFill and verify that Zwift is included in the list of apps allowed to use AutoFill.
Verify Zwift App Permissions: Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy Tab and check if Zwift has access to “Files and Folders” or “Accessibility.” If not, add Zwift to the list and restart your Mac.
You can try a clean Reinstallation: When reinstalling Zwift, make sure to delete all Zwift-related files from the ~/Library folder. This includes preferences and cache files that might be causing the issue.
Update Zwift and macOS: Ensure that both Zwift and macOS are updated to their latest versions. Sometimes, compatibility issues arise from outdated software.
First off, please update the notes that are sent out to users having issues. I know what was meant, but a noob, or light user would get confused. 'Passwords; is a separate app in the latest version of macOS, and it’s not called ‘Privacy and Security’ now just to mess with people.
And for the first paragraph, it is enabled, but there are no lists of apps that I could find. That was on both an Apple silicon and an Intel Mac.
Second paragraph: Zwift is not listed in that area of Privacy and Security on either system, yet both systems start the launcher and the correct Zwift app fine. The do-over password prompts aren’t every time I ride, so of course it didn’t happen on either one this time.
What is on the Dock points to the Zwift.app file in Applications. It does invoke a second Zwift app shown on the dock. I see ZwiftAppSilicon running, and after it loads, the launcher dies. Works the same way on the Intel mac, except it’s Zwiftapp. Since I’m using the M2 100% of the time (I keep Zwift on the other mac for testing) I don’t know if that app has the password issue. As a troubleshooting measure I was advised to put a shortcut to the ZwiftAppSilicon app on the desktop, but never did it. The issue ‘we’ were working appeared to correct itself and that wasn’t necessary.
That means my suggestion is not the answer because if you were running ZwiftAppSilicon directly, the stored password would never be accessed by the game.
It worked fine this evening too. I’ll post the next time it does it.
(I had a tech issue a while ago and the tech support engineer was arguing with me about accessing the settings, and even asked me if I was really using a Mac. I got tired of Microsoft moving the cheese nearly every time they did an update. Dealing with commercial clients frustrated with where things they used the day before are now. The ribbon drove many round the bend)
So the launcher handles authentication and passes that to the app?
