When will this finally will be implemented?
Please @zwift implement this!
Yes please - this is a must. I know Iâve said it before but for many people and many reasons, folks dealing with domestic violence issues/abuse, etc. Others who just want to ride alone, etc.
Yes sure, this is a must ! I can not understand how this can not be possible to be on a total privacy when biking, even though we have followers.
I guess Zwift is mostly building it as a social platform and that is why it is not an option.
Well it is but it takes some steps to do it.
1 - Create your own club (everyone can do that) and make an event only for clubmembers and you will ride all alone.
2 - Start a ride, pull your internet cable out of the router or shut down the router and keep on riding alone. Just before you end the ride plug the connection back in.
Maybe it will take some sort of event where someone is stalked, etc and something bad happens before they do something. Hope not.
That may have happened already and we just donât know about it.
It will probably take some sort of legal action to make this feature happen. They just seem happy to sit on their hands and do nothing, while rider weights and heights are apparently major critical privacy issue.
I remember, but canât find it, a post by someone from Zwift a few years ago saying that privacy/incognito was close to being implemented.
It dealt with a rider who was being harassed / stalked in game.
Is this request much different than turning off wifi after youâre on your way?
Yes, it goes much further than that and requests that notifications of you starting a ride are blocked.
as soon as you start a ride everyone who set you as favorite gets a push notice that you just started a ride. and that need to be stopped !
while I agree with you that such an option to pull out of that would be welcome, I also dont see it very high on Zwifts to do list. They are not very fond of giving us turn off options. I have without much thinking about 10 things I want to turn off, but they just dont want that for some reason.
Few things you can do. Just remove everyone from both your friendslists, or perhaps just the ones who you dont want to see you start a ride, and set your acount to private so they cant add you again without you giving consent to that.
No so practical if you have many.
Otherwise you have to disable your internet connection - thatâs not great either.
Itâs unthinkable that the privacy of the weight and height of a user is important, yet the privacy of someone who might be in a critical situation that really needs this incognito riding function doesnât get that.
One thing I have seen is people changing their name to something with hard to search for special characters. Particularly important for having one persona for Zwift forums and then having a very hard to find name on Zwift itself.
I agree it is not practical, but as far as I know at the moment the only way Fabian is able to prevent other people seeing him ride his bike.
Although you can also debate if you should befriend people who you dont want to see you ride on Zwift.
On a Mac with a microphone connected you might be able to use Siri to disable the turn off the WIFI by voice command. Provided you have no other internet connection (ie like a cable) this lets you ride in privacy, and is quick to enable or disable.
Itâs also handy when you want to overtake folks without being chased. You disappear from their screens.
