When I plan on doing a race, I typically “join” the event 15-20 minutes before it starts. Then I exit the activity (don’t save it), and go start another activity to warm up for a while. Then a couple of minutes before the event is due to start, I stop and save that warm-up activity, exit to the main Zwift screen and re-join the race “event” from there. That has been my general workflow for warming up before races for the last year, and it has always worked and resulted in 2 separate activities being logged/saved in Zwift (and other 3rd party apps).
However in the past couple of weeks, when I do that, the first warm-up activity does not save at all (doesn’t show up in my list of Zwift activities, or get sent to Garmin, Strava, etc…).
Hi @Steve_Hammatt Welcome to the Forums! I’m Norman from Zwift.
When you join an event early, you’re able to warm up over there for a little while as an alternative and to avoid any issues. But if the second activity didn’t upload it’s likely because rides have a minimum of 2KM in distance to be uploaded.
You can check for more information in this article.
Same issue here: I rode about 10k (carb crush work out) before I joined an event. All “pre-event” km didint get saved / disappeared. The same happened to the person cycling with me / sitting next to me. Happened to him before twice now.
This very much sounds like something more systemic ? I am using an iPad Pro, the other person a MacBook .
Hmm. haven’t thought about it before. I was considering though today checking off one of the Cardio crusher workouts, and timing this to complete a few minutes or so before I’d be joining a birthday bash ride. Going from the completion screen of the first to joining and completing the second, how do these overall activities save?
… I dont know either if then two avtivities should show on Zwift (and Strava) or only one combined. In my case, I only got ‘half of it’ hence the birthday ride and not all the session before.
Well, I’ll probably end/save the first activity and then go back to main menu to do the second, just to be safe. I might reverse the order also. I neither want to have to redo a Cardio Crusher challenge, nor not receive the unlocked jersey from a bash ride.
Good point. I will (have to= redo the Cardio Crusher later today.
I had to remind myself though that ultimately, it’s not what is logged/ saved on Zwift but what we made our body work
Same thing just happened to me. I rode for about 5 minutes before I let it send me to a new world for a race - I did more than 2k. After the event, the time and distance did not show up and wasn’t added to the race and post race miles. This appears to be an ongoing issue and now I look back on previous events and I am missing the mileage - some of it is for more than 20 minutes of activity.
