Previous Ride not save message from Zwift

I forgot, for some reason, to save a previous Zwift ride therefore I receive a message to that effect from Zwift when I logged in the following time. I had the choice to answer “Yes or No” I wanted to save my ride so I selected “Yes” and guess what, I was kicked out of the app. I tried another time with the same result. My only option was to answer “No”.

Shuji at Zwift HQ here. I looked at your recent server log reports and I see that you use an iPad12 to run the Zwift app. I don’t see a second device running the Zwift app - like a laptop or an AppleTV, please confirm?

When you say “kicked out of the app” do you mean:

  1. the app completely crashed
  2. you were taken back to the home screen where you select an activity?
  3. you were taken back to the login screen where you enter username / password?

On November 1, I see three separate log ins from that iPad about a minute apart, with no proper log out in between. “Proper log out” means the save-and-exit (or trash-and-exit) at the end of your session It can also happen if the app crashed on your end. I’d like you try these things to see if Zwift runs better:

  1. Power off and power on the iPad. This will clear any temp file clutter that may be causing problems.
  2. Log in to Zwift
  3. End your session by saving-and-exiting (or trashing-and-exiting).
  4. Force-close the Zwift app. Force-closing is different than swiping an app into the background, where the app continues to run.
    If you do these 4 steps habitually - the app should run as well as possible.

If I remember correctly, I was take back to the login screen. I tried twice to click on “Yes” and each time with the same result so I simply selected the “No” button so I can go on with Zwifting.
I have been using Zwift almost daily since without any glitch whatsoever.

Can you screenshot the “previous ride not save” message next time you see it and drop it here? It would help us better understand what you’re reporting.

  1. Can you confirm you are able to see your previous activities in the Companion app or the The at Home Cycling & Running Virtual Training App webpage?

  2. I checked that this Tour of Watopia Stage 4 ride today saved on my end. Do you see it on your end?

  3. How about your November 5 ride? Is that one also saving to the Zwift activity history?

  4. I also see you’re connected to Strava. Did those two rides upload correctly to Strava?

According to what I see in my activities on Companion app and on Strava, all my rides were recorded properly.

I think we should stop this inquiry and not waste any more time on it.

What I would do is simply try to recreate the situation by doing a short ride this week and exit without saving. See what happens and let you know the outcome. If a get a message I will make sure to do a screenshot.
