Power and Cadence Training seems like an impossible target to hit

Just trying to get back into training plans after only doing regular riding for a few years. I don’t remember it seeming like an impossible target. I couldn’t hit the cadence target without going way over the power target. Or then overcompensating. It was a just a frustrating mess, so I gave up pretty quickly. I used to use a pretty good laptop but now am using an ipad. Perhaps that is the difference. I think they used to have just power targets?!? Anyone else experience this?
