I see that this has been an issue in the past for some users. I have been running Zwift for years. I have a gaming PC with Microsoft Windows 11 Home, Intel Core i7-10700KF CPU @3.80 GHz and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER GPU. It is connected to an LG OLED 65” 4K TV.
I updated the graphics driver using the NVIDIA app and the resolution is set to 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz. I confirmed that the monitor is using the GPU.
The only way I can open Zwift is by deleting the prefs file in the Documents\Zwift folder and then Zwift opens in Windowed mode with default resolution of 1080.
Anyway - I am wondering if this is related to transition to NVIDIA app from GE Force Experience app. Any suggestions appreciated!!
Thanks
Will
I disabled the LG TV instant game response. That did not help.
Using Zwift in windowed mode is pretty annoying - I am hoping I can figure this out!
If the PC is for Zwift, you have no reason to use the Nvidia apps or updated drivers. The one that comes from Microsoft should be stable and there’s no benefit to anything newer.
You could also try using Borderless Gaming to run windowed mode as full screen.
Most of the people reporting that error have a refresh rate mismatch between the display and the GPU configuration. Your description seems to rule that out (?) but I would want to look up the display specs to see what it can do and possibly try other supported refresh rates if there are other reasonable options.
@Steve_Clogg_PACK might have more suggestions for you, or head over to the ZPCMR group on Facebook, read the PDFs on the Files tab, make sure all your Nvidia settings are at the recommended values, and share the model of the display if you want help.
Thanks for the reply! The computer is primarily for Zwift so I may try to use the Microsoft drivers. Otherwise, I am trying to figure out how to change the NVIDIA settings - the UI is different in the app then it used to be in the Control Panel.
From what I can tell the LG CX 65” OLED TV has a native refresh rate of 120 Hz but it also supports G-Sync or variable refresh rate which seems active.
Anyway - very frustrating as it seemed to be working for years and then just popped up as an issue.
The 20 series RTX cards only support hdmi 2.0b so 1440p@120hz max due to the bandwidth limit. 60hz at 4k will work.
Download DDU and clear the drivers out then let windows install an older set via windows update.

Thanks!! Just out of curiosity - what do you think would look better on the TV - 1440p at 120hz or 4k at 60hz? DDU seems just what I need to get rid of the NVIDIA drivers.
With your setup you will be CPU limited at any resolution so VRR up to 120hz might be nice to use at 1440p (huge group rides on Watopia or Makuri will dip it below 60). You can still select 4K in zwift to sharpen things up, no need to select 1440.
If you are happy at 60hz then go 4K. At 4K 60hz you could try Trumotion Smooth in the tv options.
I recently switched to a 55-inch 4K and run 4K-60Hz…I think it looks great. I run a SFF i7-7700 and 4060 Low Profile.
My display is set to 4K x 2k, 3840 x 2160 (native) in the NVIDIA App. That will trigger the error. The highest resolution option for a progressive scan is 1080p, 1920 x 1080. If I change the resolution to 1080p Zwift will launch in full screen mode. So my options are launch at 1080 p in full screen mode or 4K x 2k in windowed mode. Thoughts?
Try selecting 3840x2160 from the PC options in the list in the nvidia control panel with 60hz. Scroll down to find them.
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I did try the resolution suggested by Steve but that did not work. I also uninstalled the NVIDIA App. I guess the next thing to try is to uninstall the NVIDIA drivers, but that worries me a little bit as I have not done anything quite like that before. I am not really a PC super user.
Once deleted, make sure no drivers in Device Manager, reboot and do a Windows update. Win will update if needed.
