Cool. I commented there. This was not the first route I have seen this on, but I was surprised to see it with such a new expansion for something which was presumably tested by Zwift.
@shooj for info I´ve sent an email with three Zwiftalizer files to support from two different PC´s, the files show FPS drops in the New York Expansion, probably the tunnels I think.
I keep forgetting to upload a log to zwiftalizer but I noticed the severe frame dropping in the neon subway station tunnels as well
I saw a drop from 60FPS to under 30FPS the other day in one of the neon subway tunnels.
Free ride, by myself, no other riders on screen.
now called TrainerDX
Yup I went from 60 to mid 20s.
Twice the drop coincided with the power segment sections. Suspect also linked to video screenshots (which I definitely don’t have turned on if Dave from ZPCMR is reading this
)
Just to warn everyone, Double Span Spin will glitch and freeze for all riders if you’re doing a meetup. This happens between mile 1.1 to 1.3 and will last about 2-3 minutes. If everyone keeps pedaling, the avatar will move forward in tiny bursts at 1-2 mph until you pass that 1.3 mile mark (aka: when you finish rounding the bend and get onto the brickwork vice the tarmac) and you will be able to get back to speed.
This happens at the exact same point every time if you’re doing a multi-lap meetup (happened against at mile 5.6-5.8).
This does not happen if you free-ride the route, though - I verified that by doing a lap after the meetup was over and made it through the afflicted region without issue.
Yes, I’ve emailed Zwift Support. Hopefully they rectify this soon.
Good to know about Stay Puft Pursuit - the exact same distance glitch happens in the Time Square Circuit run. There’s something maddening about going out for 4.4 miles and then watching as the distance required to finish the activity jumps up to 4.8!!
@Neal_Fleenor posted the same on Facebook recently. I was wondering if it’s something related to banded rides?

On my Windows 11 PC with a NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1060 graphics card I noticed very recognizable drops in framerate only in the subway tunnel between Central Park and Timesquare. The other tunnels seemed fine, at least I didn’t notice any image stuttering there.
Are the subways/tunnels also the ‘power segments’?
Same area but it isn’t limited to when you’re going through one of the power segments.
I notice it most when descending escalators
Can somebody provide a link to the hack for solidifying the transparent roads?
No glass roads but some of the replacements/other roads appear a little too white, IMO, but I’m still using.
Can someone explain what I’m doing wrong on the “boosted” escalators? Doesn’t matter how I approach them, even going all out with a feather powerup, I lose ground to any group I start out with before I’ve even reached the top. Even with the “boost,” I find them far more difficult than the unpowered escalators in London.
Frankly, IMHO, it’s a gimmick that doesn’t work right. There’s absolutely no need for those ramps to be so stupidly steep and tall that the powered escalator is necessary.
I’m in the same boat, no matter what I do I seem to lose ground. I wouldn’t call them boosts either, they don’t make you go faster they just carry you up.
Yeah, I personally believe they should not have spent the dev resources creating the escalator. It would be better if they just made the ramp less steep and put the escalator dev/design effort into something else.
What is your trainer difficulty setting?
