New problem, help needed

Not a bug per day but something on my end.

I had Zwift opening when my computer shut down. When I restarted it, Zwift would not start. It would says microsoftedge2 not installed. I followed a bunch of directions from Zwift ai support. I uninstalled Zwift after nothing worked, After the reinstall, I had a brief picture in launcher which then went into update files lasting 20 minutes or so, then nothing happened, just a white box.

Restarting has done nothing. If I ask to install microsoftedge2, it says it is already installed.

Any help before Zwift support can officially help me?

Well I think you can force it to re-install but personally I would reset or re-install Windows.

I don’t know anything about this. Delete a registry key?

That’s why I say a clean re-install is the easiest option. Back up your data and start over.

Hey, thanks so much. You helped me know what to search for on the web.

I reinstalled Microsoft edge webview2 runtime. Finally.

After installing, I forced restart on computer. Now it is starting.

But right when it should open the pairing screen, it shuts off.

This is the same issue a lot of us (Win 10) had in December. Now I have it again.

I made sure Zwift is checked to allow through firewall. But it fails.

So, is there a Microsoft security update I should remove:

11/16 ends in 959

11/22 ends in 653

3/26 ends in 039

Or do a clean re-install of Windows and you may skip over all of those steps

It would be ten times easier to remove whatever update is causing this. I’m just not sure which one it is?

I guess I will just try and then report back.

I’m not sure either. KB5073724 was the update that was causing freezes for Windows 10 users with older Nvidia GPUs. But you are apparently experiencing a crash, and I don’t know which GPU you have, so that may be entirely unrelated. In any case, Microsoft already offered a fix for that bug so all you would need to do is make sure the system is fully updated and then rebooted. I think you need Zwift support to look at your game and launcher logs and explain why it’s dying. Occasionally there is an obvious clue in the logs but otherwise I’m not qualified to analyze them.

I don’t know exactly what you did when you re-installed the game, but it needs to be done like this: Re-Installing Zwift

I reinstalled a second time just now, but made sure it was in a different location.

I just logged in now (also gave permission repeated to open)

WOW, that was some undertaking.

I hope you find some time to re-install Windows on that machine and get it cleaned up. It is giving you all the signs you need to say that starting clean would be prudent. If Zwift is working, great, you can do it at a more convenient time.
