So, effectively, you’re asking that the workout and free ride HUDs be identical? Could you not just do an actual workout, but NOT in ERG mode to achieve what you’re looking for? Or do you want to be able to just do random interval efforts whenever you feel like it in free mode, but have the workout HUD displayed?
I agree that an ERG workout with free watts may achieve some of it, but it still has it´s limits. Using freeride and splits gives more freedom; when do I start the interval, when do I end it, how long is the break between, do I do one less than planned or one more. So yes. I would like a “free workout” HUD almost identical to the ERG mode HUD. Almost identical because the free workout HUD can not have info about how much time is left and what is the target wattage.
I mean, it’s still the same. If you want more recovery, pause the workout and keep riding. If you want less recovery, skip the recovery interval when you’re ready to start the next work period. If you want to do one less, skip it. If you want to do one more rep, pause the workout and do the effort manually.
The UI will stay the same with the power number top center with the workout paused.
I will try it. But it will still take some time planing and making the workout.
So I would still like the other option. That would be like riding on the road and just press new lap on the Garmin or whatever device you are using, when you feel for it.
The Zwift UI is more configurable than it used to be, but not that much. You can create pretty much any data overlays you want with Sauce for Zwift though.
Ability to relocate HUD elements has been requested at least as far back as 2018. There’s no sign that it’s ever coming, though I can’t say it isn’t coming either - that is unknown. If it happens, you’ll find out when it’s released. Until then, Sauce for Zwift is the usual way people manage it.
