Allow workouts to deviate by at least 50% intensity. Why? Because then a single workout could be used in place of several. For example, if I create a zone 2 workout, I could lower it to be a zone 1, or raise it to be a zone 3 or 4 workout.
A similar feature could be to Ask if we want to upgrade a workout based on percent levels chosen. For example, if I raised the workout level by say 2% during a ride to work on progression, it would be great if I could save it at the new FTP.
Hi @MTBRDAG_Paterberg_TP
Thanks for sharing this suggestion. This is Haziel from Zwift Support. Being able to change a workout across entirely different zones (like jumping from Z1 all the way to Z4) could be an interesting option, and we appreciate your feedback.
While a 50%+ swing or an auto-saving FTP feature based on those mid-ride adjustments isn’t currently available, some options might help you manage your intensity and intervals on the fly if things aren’t feeling quite right.
If you are in the middle of an interval and realize you are running out of stamina, the best approach is to adjust your Workout Bias. This scales the target wattage up or down (usually between 75% and 125%) just for the current workout without messing with your permanent baseline FTP.
You can adjust the bias in the following ways:
-
On the Keyboard, press the Page Up or Page Down keys to increase or decrease the intensity.
-
At Zwift Companion App, you can navigate to the active Workout screen on your phone and tap the + or - buttons located near the intensity percentage.
-
In-Game Action Bar: Bring up the bottom menu on your screen and click the + / - arrows.
An alternative to adjusting the bias is to move on to the next block; you can also jump ahead.
-
Swipe right on the current interval in Companion to skip that interval and move on to the next.
-
(On Mac and PC, use the tab key on the keyboard to skip ahead. You can also skip via the action bar at the bottom-middle of the screen.)
If you have any more questions or need help, please feel free to contact us. We’re here to support you! We value your feedback.
Ride On.
Hi Haziel,
I could have worded that better. I meant it would be good to be able to adjust bias by 50% instead of just 25%.
thanks,
Dave
Hi Haziel,
When I referenced changing FTP in my suggestion, I meant what Zwift calls “bias”. It is currently limited to a +/- 25% change, which is good, but if it could adjust by +/- 50% it would serve the purposes I mentioned below.

Dave
