Map in zwift companion has gone

Is there an issue with the map in android zc in races? I used to be able to see map it on the side menu to see a wider view of the course and give ride ons etc but its not been there since I returned to zwift in October. I read somewhere to reboot my server but that hasnt worked so is it a known issue?

do you mean your wifi and internet equipment?

There are no issues with the companion app on Android, I use it daily, the map screen always shows up.

As you may already know, your device running the companion app must be on the same network as the device running Zwift for them to “talk” to each other and connnect.

Used to have the ZCA map screen totally freeze up from time to time, on reflection it was my old PC hardware because since a major upgrade the ZCA has been working fine now on the same Samsung tablet.

Check to make sure you are looking for the map in the correct place. If you haven’t been on Zwift for a while, your previous experience may have been from before one of the Zwift Companion updates that put the map in a separate tab from the home screen. When the update first came through, I thought my phone just wasn’t connecting properly. Looked closer the next time I was riding and realized that the 2nd tab across the bottom was the map and it wasn’t necessarily the default view when I had opened ZC. As others have noted, you also want to double check that your phone is connecting to the same network as your trainer/computer.

That’s iOS, Android is completely different. Android doesn’t have those tabs at the bottom.

Hi @Phil_Smith_DCC, welcome to the Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.

A couple of things worth checking:

  • Make sure Zwift on your main device and the Companion app are on the same Wi‑Fi network and the same band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz). If they’re split, the app won’t sync properly.

  • Restart both devices (Zwift device + phone running Companion) and relaunch the apps.

  • If it’s still missing, this guide has some extra steps that usually sort it out: Issues with Zwift Companion App.

Since others have mentioned it’s working fine for them. Give those steps a try.

Thanks for posting.

Ride On.

Ah, I didn’t realize there would be that much of a difference between the two. Figured the appearance and basic function would mirror somewhat closely, but sounds like that isn’t the case in this instance.
