I’m planning on using an iPad to run zwift, and my phone to run the companion app or app for my bike. I will mostly be using headphones and typically need to blast my music to get me going for any workout. I want to hear Zwifts noises and my music. If I want to open my music app to change songs will it stop Zwift from running? Is there a seamless way to make this work using headphones?
To the best of my knowledge, if you use your phone for the music/headphones, you shouldn’t have any issues. But if you are using the iPad (running the Zwift game), it will ‘pause’ whenever you move it to the background to fiddle with your music (but I think it would be fine if you start the music ahead of time and don’t play with it while riding).
That was my fear. I need to run both on the same device to use headphones. And I do tend to mess with my music a lot
I don’t think you really do, most people turn them off
On the iPad, you need to keep Zwift in the foreground all the time. Never switch to another app on the iPad. On the phone running Companion, you can switch to another app. The Companion app can also play some game notification sounds, but you won’t get the full game sound experience. Some other types of devices, such as a modern Mac, can run Zwift and other apps and you can switch back and forth with no issues. The problem only arises when running Zwift on a mobile device like a tablet, phone, or Apple TV.
Haha! I guess I might turn it off after I get used to and familiar with it. At first it’ll definitely bother me not hearing everything. I will have to make a good playlist.
I use the phone for Companion and Music (Radio Paradise). PITA to switch between them but oh well. If I had a tablet holder I could use iPad for Companion (Zwift runs on a PC)…but have not the energy to find one…
