Let's give the "Z" button an important job!

TLDR- Make one press of “Z” button on keyboard, Zwift Play controllers, and Zwift Ride controllers:

  • reciprocate a “Ride-On” when given from another rider nearby
  • give a “Ride-On” to rider who PR’s a segment, completes a workout, etc. (orange thumb next to name)

For years, I’ve wanted an EASY way to reciprocate a “Ride-On” to nearby riders when one is given to me. I feel like this should be a very simple thing to perform while riding- like spacebar to use a power-up. Currently, as far as I have experienced, Scenario 1 running the game on my PC and with the companion app open- my options are to use the app to find the rider near me, then click their name, then click “Ride-On”, or to grab my mouse, try and hover over the orange thumb next to the riders name who PR’d/finished workout/etc. and click it before it goes away. Scenario 2 running the game on my Zwift Ride and Macbook- as advertised, quick press the “Z” button on my Ride controllers to reciprocate the “Ride-On”. This actually doesn’t work. I have tried every iteration of short press, long press, etc. and it doesn’t work. I have another thread on this under Bugs and Support.

Can’t we all agree that this would be such an easy thing to implement and make reciprocating that “Ride-On” just that much easier?!?!?!?

Currently “Z” button on keyboard does NOTHING! It’s Zwift, let’s give the “Z” button and important job!!!

I suggested this almost six years ago (except I still think the key should be R as in ride on) and I’m sure there are plenty of others…

Thanks Anna! I’m with you on this. But…

“Z” button is on the bottom row of keyboard, and would give consistency across all platforms- whether using keyboard, Play Controllers, or Zwift Ride. Can I persuade you to get on board with this???:slightly_smiling_face:
