Kickr V6 Power Loss using Zwift

I use Kickr V6 for almost 2 years with Zwift. Few weeks ago, I felt a sudden power drop at a beginning of a group ride. That is like, pedaling is much easier especially when I attempt to go for a higher cadance (as happens at a beginning of a group ride). I also see that I go faster at straights with lower power output, even become a flyer with low watts. Before it was like 170W and 34 km/h but now 130W and 34km/h. To generate the same power output, I usually need to go 2 cassettes lower

Not sure that to do, I do not know if a factory spindown is required and I have no tools for diagnosing.

What are you running the game on? How are you pairing the trainer (WiFi, Bluetooth, ANT+ or via the Companion app)? Although this can be a trainer problem, it’s often not.

Zwift runs on Windows pc, also tried on Android version on the phone. Always using bluetooth connection. I assume some setting Zwift applies causing this to happen. I did a factory spindown, it was feeling like the situation was resolved afterwards, but the first group ride did made the problem come back

Now I try mywoosh and get better results by the way

When was the last time you updated your V6,.. also do you get the same results running the Wahoo app?

First question is whether you are getting Bluetooth dropouts when using Zwift, and you can tell by uploading a log file to trainerdx.com. Hit the Share button to make the log analysis public and get a link that you can post here. You may need to mangle the link by sticking a space near the start to get the forum to accept it.

You also have the option to pair your trainer via WiFi to see if that makes it behave differently, or pair the trainer via the Companion app.

I have had that problem in the past and always attributed it to double-recording-signal-confusion. I use a Quarq PM as the source in game but monitor the KickrV6 with my Wahoo Bolt V2 for power comparison. If I turn the Bolt on too soon I had the “no resistance” symptom.

I also get it for a bit for every ride. I just ramp the gears up and spin hard and the resistance kicks in. Note that I use the ClikrV2 and Cog on my KickrV6. This issue seems to be a bit different than the original issue from above. This issue starts with resistance, drops, and comes back when going up a few gears. The above starts with no resistance and never comes back until I stop/start Zwift.

Moral: when connecting in the pairing screen, ensure you are not connected anywhere else such as a head unit, phone, tablet, etc..

Hi @Caglar_K

Welcome to Zwift Forums. This is Haziel from Zwift Support. I noticed your question about the power loss on your Kickr V6, so I wanted to share a few tips that could help.

First, try unplugging the Kickr V6 from the wall and leave it unplugged for about 60 seconds. While it’s unplugged, make sure to completely close Zwift on your PC or device. I will share this article about force-closing Zwift.

Since you’ve paired the Kickr with your phone or computer before, turn off Bluetooth on those devices to avoid any conflicting commands. I will share this article for more information about how to restore default settings the next time you launch Zwift on your PC. Also, try pairing through the Zwift Companion App as a Bridge; that sometimes clears up weird resistance issues. I didn’t find a consistent pairing issue, but this might be of help.

It might help to check things out on the Wahoo app too. Start a basic “Indoor Cycling” workout and mess around with the manual resistance slider. If you find it gets a lot harder to pedal when you adjust the resistance, it means your trainer is responding correctly.

Please give those steps a try. If you require further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

Ride On.
