Jet Black Victory

You might have given me a clue toward something I had not considered - a WiFi relationship. While I haven’t changed my WiFi config, and I’ve never knowingly configured the trainer itself (JB App, yes; trainer no) for Wifi. To the best of my knowledge, Zwift and JB apps just use BT (or ANT+), but there is of course WiFi radio emanations all over the place in this apartment complex. I can at least let my router do a spectrum scan and see if I have a new noisy neighbor I hadn’t previously considered. My ‘puters et. al. haven’t had any WiFi problems in the same timeframe,

If you can get the trainer reassembled, try a head unit if you have one for the ANT+ or BLE connection to see if you’re getting power data. Also, just spitballing here, but Macs might limit the number of BLE connections you can do at once. So if you have any headphones or other things connected, that might be an issue.

Hope you get this sorted out one way or another.

An ANT+ dongle cannot be used with an iPad. Would work with a PC or Mac. Aside from a bicycle head unit, many Garmin watches can pair to a trainer via ANT+.

Connected to my head unit - it used ANT+. It was happy that there was a connection, and the trainer was happy (solid blue light) that it was in session. Zero speed information received by head unit. I’m hunting for a place to source some speed sensors (one for now, several more for later  ).

To those who took their trainer apart, is this part supposed to simply come out by pulling it by hand? Mine seems to be completely stuck. Any tips? @Alex_Beebe @Shane_O_Connor @David_Stark

Sorry, I don’t check the forums often enough. Mine needed some generous help the first time to get out due to corrosion and bits of cemented rubber and grease. I tapped the shaft end with a drift pin and dead blow hammer. If I had to do it again, I’d try threading the pulley bolt back in a few turns and tapping on it with a 10mm socket, socket extension, and dead blow. I used the same technique to remove a rusty steering box from my boat over the summer. Try and be careful not to use too much shock force to prevent damage to the bearings. Also, some light oil on reassembly will help with any future disassembly.

You may also be able to use a gear puller to push the shaft out, but I’m not sure what the puller’s arms would reach behind. I don’t know if there’s enough space behind the pulley.

Thanks for the reply. I got it working eventually (back then) but it needed some good hammering (used a rubber hammer and an sds drill bolt - the sds fits perfectly on the shaft end) to take it out. Also the bearings were a challenge to take out and put back in the replacements, but I got rid of all the weird noises and vibrations the trainer would make. My assumption is that the small 6002 bearing (that holds the shaft) was toast, I could feel it when rotating in hand. The 5202 (btw, for europeans it’s 3202) seemed ok, though I replaced it as well just to make sure. I used SKF rubber sealed 6002 bearing as replacements. So far so good. Was an endavour but I’m happy with the result!

Glad to hear, and yeah, I agree on that 6002 failure. I think it’s the most likely to fail due to corrosion/contamination from the three different metals all coming together there (stainless shaft, steel key, and aluminum pulley). Rubber seals seem like a good idea, and I think some newer Victory models appear to have made the switch from the factory.

Hello all. The Jet Black Victory is my first direct drive trainer, and while I got it back in March of 2025 I have only just started using it (~100km) with the Zwift Cog.

I find the trainer rather loud and it emits a pretty audible whirr/drone over the sound of my drive train: https://voca.ro/14fJLmYAAAdp.

There is also what looks like a pretty clear line on the belt, the photo doesn’t do it complete justice.

Is this in line with other’s experiences of the Victory or should I reach out to JetBlack?

That doesn’t sound right to me. It does sound, and look, like something is rubbing against the belt unfortunately. If you remove the screws and take the side cover off it should give you a good view of the belt and you may be able to see whats’ causing the rubbing.

I had a similar problem with the belts, increased wear and tear, and a progression of noise. After speaking with my bike shop they suggested contacting the Distributor in Canada. They have a great reputation on Reddit, and they provided fantastic customer support.

I would highly recommend that Canadian customers contact the Distributor in Montreal.
