Using the iPhone (10) on Zwift - battery when charging remains at 100%
Using my iPad, the battery when charging loses about 20% every hour

Yes. You need to use the original iPad charger or aftermaket charger that can suppply at least 10W (5V @ 2.1 Amp) or better yet 12W (5V @ 2.4 Amp).
iPhone charger 5W (5V @ 1 Amp) just won’t provide enough juice for the iPad.
