We’ve begun a phased rollout of a new end-of-session experience for Zwifters who use iOS, tvOS, or Android devices: Return to Home for Mobile. Saving (or trashing) an activity will take you back to the Home Screen, rather than the Login screen, just as desktop machines do.
This means all your paired devices stay connected, and Zwift Click v2, Play, or Ride controllers will continue to navigate the menu to quickly start your next activity.
Note: this feature will log you out of an open session after 30 minutes of inactivity to preserve controller battery.
We’re rolling out this feature over the next few weeks in stages. If you don’t see this behavior yet - don’t worry! If you do see your mobile device return you to the Home Screen - let us know what you like (or don’t) and of course - let us know if you run into issues.
UPDATE October 22
Phased rollout of Return to Home is complete to iOS and Android devices.
Phased rollout to tvOS will begin next Monday Oct 27.
We detected low-memory tablets and phones with 2GB of RAM or less were prone to hangs and crashes, so we are excluding those devices from the Return to Home experience.
UPDATE November 5
Phased rollout is complete to tvOS devices.
Low-memory tablets and phones with 2GB or less are still excluded.
Can the Admins please give an update on this roll out?
It definitely hasn’t hit my Android tablet yet and not having this feature and a racing score that changed enough this morning to bump me to a higher category cause me massive problems this morning. I barely had three minutes to get all of my sensors reconnected, back in game, find my event, select the appropriate Cat, and load into the event (I got in with like 5 secs to go), because I got kicked back to the log-in screen when I tried to join my event.
And actually, would you please clarify if this update works for when you are going from one event to the next? ie like the Zwift Insider tiny races, where you have 4 races back to back.
Yes, that’s how it should work and tiny races is one of the reasons I’m looking forward to it.
Regarding rollout, it’s rolling out gradually and should be complete within a couple of weeks. While it rolls out, we’re listening to user feedback and assessing potential changes based on that feedback.
Apple TV users please note that we’ll begin phased rollout to tvOS starting next week. Please post your questions or issue reports in this thread, thank you!
On Tuesday the AppleTV “return to main menu after ending a ride function” started working, however on Wednesday and Thursday now back to main login screen. Will the roll out to all AppleTV users be completed soon? It is a nice timesaving feature.
We’re looking into this and have made a change to see if that affects whether this feature is enabled for you. Next time you log in, can you let us know if you are returned to the home screen after a ride?
Hi @the_guaiwu
Thanks for reporting this hiccup. We looked at your server logs to confirm that happened to you. We’ll get this sorted out and ask for your patience.
@hampsta
I checked your server logs and your Apple TV has been on version 1.100 since at least two days ago. You would’ve had problems riding the new NYC routes if you weren’t using that build. Here’s how you can check which version you’re using.
Ok, it works well…when it works. Today I did 4 rides. After ride 1/before ride 2 I was sent to the Login screen and had to reconnect everything. However after ride 2/before ride 3 and after ride 3/before ride 4 I was sent to the Home screen.
