Inital pairing causes Zwift to end

I am running Apple TV, Wahoo Kickr V5 Wi-Fi direct, and the old version of the Zwift controllers.

On the initial pairing screen, they all connect. But as soon as press continue, within a second or two Zwift restarts.

After that restart, I get everything to pair again, and the game works fine.

This has been going on for 2 months or so.

My Apple TV OS is up to date, as is zwift, and my Wahoo kicker firmware.

I have a video that shows the issue, but apparently cannot post links here.

Any ideas?

Do you force quit the Zwift app on the Apple TV after every use? If not, you should try that and see if the issue goes away.

What exact model of ATV? The Settings menu will tell you the model number.

I doubt it - how do you do that? I return to the Apple TV main menu, but nothing beyond that.

Apple TV: 26.2 23K54

Zwift: 1.104.4 (157262)

Wahoo: 5.4.29

That’s the tvOS version. Paul’s link above my post tells you how to find the hardware model number.

Apple TV version: A1625

I have now done the force quit. I restarted zwift, paired everything, and then selected an activity.

That worked perfectly.

So I consider this a workaround, versus a solution. But it will do for now.

I’m not sure any of us really understand why force-quitting the Zwift app ‘fixes’ a number of issues, but it does. And Zwift doesn’t seem to be in any rush to remedy the situation (as it’s been this way for years), so it’s just a good habit to get into. (Do the same on your phone or tablet if you ever run Zwift on one of those, too.)

it’s sort of the Zwift version of ‘Have you tried restarting it?’

This is the oldest and slowest Apple TV device that works with Zwift, only 2GB RAM. Frequent quit and restart of the app is especially important on a device that old.
