I have a Garmin HR strap and Fenix 7 Watch
I usually use the HR strap, but after the last update my HR has been off the charts. I’ve tried replacing the battery.
Funny thing is, even if I connect my Garmin via Bluetooth my HR is showing in game around 240 even though I can clearly see from my watch I might be sitting at 80-120
My Garmin Fenix 7 Bluetooth to Zwift shows 240ish.
My Garmin Fenix 7 via Ant to Zwift shows 80-120 (correct)
My Garmin HR Strap via Ant to Zwift shows 240ish
They are not stuck at 240 either, they change, eg 239, 240, 239. So its reading something…
How old is your HR strap, and I specifically mean the strap? I have found that when this happens the likely culprit is the strap going bad and needing to be replaced. The salt in sweat seems to corrode the wires inside over time, especially if not rinsed after every use.
If you have a spare strap sitting around you might give that a shot to see if it solves your issue.
It is very old, and at first I thought it was probably time to replace it.
But than I switched to my Fenix 7, which can broadcast HR out via BT/ANT
And Zwift is showing the same issue to my watch on BT.
The watch is showing a normal value while Zwift is showing a crazy value
You can try “resetting” the strap/module. A couple of methods:
Remove battery; put thumbs on the contact tabs/snaps for 15 seconds. (This has worked for me for multiple brands)
Or, insert battery reversed for 15 seconds and then install a new battery.
Google for your HRM for alternatives.
