I think you need to provide a bit more information about how this is happening. Are you able to hold the group consistently and in 20mins your avatar just stops pedaling and you see no power on screen? Is this with a robopacer, is this with a group ride, is this on a hill, on flat, etc. ? Do you still see “nearby riders” in the rider list? If not it might mean an intermittent connection issue etc.
You posted the specs for your equipment. Are you experiencing drop outs from Zwift? Or are you just getting dropped from the groups you are in? If that former, you will probably want to run your log files through Zwiftalizer, or whatever it’s called now (TrainerDX, maybe?). If the latter, please provide information about what bike you are riding in-game (TT bikes get no draft, and some non-TT bikes are slower, like MTB and gravel). Are you actively staying in the group, to get the draft, or hanging around at the back or on the fringes?
Yes im able to hold the group consistently, but at around 20 mins the Avatar simply looses speed and drops from the Robopacer. The Avatars pedals continue to turn, and all of the numbers look correct in the HUD. I can even go into a higher gear, get out of the saddle, to chase, but the speed of the Avatar generally grinds to a complete halt. Everything, as far as you have questioned, looks perfect, its just the Avatar loosing all speed
Yes, I believe it be be drop outs from Zwift. It is 100% the former. I have not heard of Zwiftalizer (TrainerDX) and have not “run files” through anything of this nature before
Another possibility is the brakes are getting activated, either by accident or defect. If that happens the rear tail light on your in game bike will go on. There is a Braking Sensitivity slider in the game settings you can move all the way left to disable them.
Ive just checked my braking slider and found that it was set to Max. I have now moved it to Off. In saying that, i haven’t noticed the brake light come on ever, but to be honest i wasnt really looking for it either. Ill ride in the morning and report back
A friend has just mentioned about firewalls and internet security possibly being an issue. Im using Norton. Has anybody ever had any issues relating to Internet security installation?
If you get disconnected from the network for any reason (such as port blocking) that could make other riders disappear. If the trainer is paired via WiFi, a firewall could disconnect the trainer, though you could pair it via Bluetooth instead to avoid that. A TrainerDX log report would tell you a lot about those things, though it would not necessarily explain why it happened. If you hit the Share button in the log report and post the link here you could get some eyes on it. To post a link on the forum you’ll probably need to mangle the URL a little, like stick a space in ‘https’
I switched back to a Bluetooth connection this morning, albeit I had only done the previous 2 rides using WiFi. Thankfully this morning I did not experience the same issues that I have been having for the last few months
I set up a TrainerDX account (as im not convinced the fault will not rear it ugly head) but my new issue is that the .FIT files post ride are not saving to my PC. I found an old one, before I installed Norton and dragged it to TrainerDX (worked perfectly)
I attempted to allow Norton to save any new files (riding the required 2km several times) but at this point in time i am unfortunately unsuccessful in stopping Norton from saving them
The log file location changed with launcher version 1.1.16 so you may be looking for your data in the wrong place.
It is not unusual for owners of the Kickr Core 2 to get better stability from Bluetooth than WiFi pairing. It’s also not rare to find that a PC struggles to support all the Bluetooth traffic when using virtual shifting and a lot of stuff paired up. The usual fix for that is to disable the on-board Bluetooth adapter and use a USB dongle such as the TP-Link UB500. I have seen that happen even on brand new gaming PCs.
If you end up needing to use the dongle, this is the process:
In Windows Bluetooth settings, remove any devices paired there such as keyboard/mouse/headphones
In Windows Device Manager, find the existing Bluetooth adapter, right-click on it and select Disable
Install the USB dongle into one of the USB 2 ports. Avoid using a USB 3 port as that can generate some interference. Drivers should install automatically if it’s a TP-Link UB500, no need to download anything from TP-Link.
If you’re connecting Bluetooth speakers or headphones for music or videos, I recommend pairing them to your phone instead of the PC.
I was unable to locate any recent FIT or ZWO files within C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Zwift. So i uninstalled both Zwift and Norton, reinstaling Zwift only. Will organise to get the TP-Link UB500 during the weekand will install following your instructions
