Hey all,
I’ve noticed that during high intensity efforts (such as the ZRL race yesterday), my heart rate monitor (Polar H9, previously Garmin HRM Dual) gets stuck on a certain value (see screenshot below). Sometimes this is just for 30s, but the longest period is 6m-ish.
One might think it’s a Bluetooth issue, but it seems to only happen for high intensity efforts. Today, I did a Z2 ride (with the identical set-up) and the readings were perfectly fine:
This issue has been around now for a couple of weeks and I’m not sure why. I’d appreciate any tips. I’ve wondered whether it might be the colder winter temperatures, but it’s still 17-18 degrees inside, so not super cold. Usually I ride without a shirt, and I tested whether wearing one fixes the problem, but it unfortunately does not. Any ideas? Thank you very much!!
Yes, that’s a good point, thanks. I’m afraid this isn’t the reason unfortunately. Had the issue with the Garmin HRM Dual when I put new batteries in and now also with the new Polar H9.
I was thinking of trying electrode gel, maybe that will help…
Thanks for the suggestions, and sorry for the late reply! I tested both things. The reset did not solve the issue and the log analyser shows no issues with the BT connection. The issue persists every time my heart rate is very high, see the example from yesterday’s ZRL race. I wear it tightly; it’s not loose whatsoever. I have no explanation. It never happens during workouts that are low intensity only, but it seems to happen every time the heart rate is very high (high 180s is close to my max). Yesterday, it froze multiple times when my HR reached 180.
