I got my Zwift a few days ago and had a few rides without issue. Now, suddenly, my handlebars are no longer pairing. They will pair in the companion app, but then as soon as I launch Zwift they drop and will not reconnect. I have changed nothing since the last time they worked fine (last ride was only 2 days ago). I have tried power cycling, I have nothing else bluetooth connected to my phone, nothing like that. Really at a loss here.
What do you run Zwift on? Can you pair directly to that device, or do you have to go through the companion app?
Also, have you checked to make sure they have the latest firmware (this is done in the companion app in the “equipment” menu)
I run everything through the companion app and bridge it to PC. According to the equipment page all firmware is updated and current.
Everything worked a few days ago and is now refusing to
why? Do you not have bluetooth? The new background pairing might be causing the issue, a fix I’ve seen work is deleting the knowndevices.xml file in your Zwift folder, it will create a new one when you launch Zwift and repair everything.
I just followed the walkthrough when I installed everything and bridging looked like the best option. When I tried to pair it directly to my PC it wouldn’t connect. Everything else is connecting without issue other than the handlebars, despite previously connecting and being usable.
if the handlebars are faulty, you will need to open a support@zwift.com ticket
So are you saying that you can or cannot see the bars when you’re on the Equipment menu in the Companion app? That’s the place where firmware updates are done, not related to pairing to the game. Don’t start Zwift, just run Companion, go to Equipment, see if the bars show up at all.
Personally I would never use Companion for pairing except when troubleshooting a problem. If it doesn’t pair directly to the PC then there’s more work to do to figure out why.
Everything appears normally and connects in the companion app. Then when I start the game only the handlebars disappear and won’t connect via the game.
Can you post a picture of your pairing screen in Zwift with everything paired so we can see if theres anything to check for the controllers?
-when connected via the companion app everything says connected, lights on the handlebars are solid blue
-once in the game handlebars disappear, will not appear in either Recommend or All, lights begin blinking.
-this previously worked. I just bought the Zwift and have only ridden it about 3 times.
The only thing I can think of is some sudden failure in bridging, but again, somehow only with the handlebars
Your Kickr Core 2 also supports bridging the Ride controls via the Kickr Bridge feature. This could be an alternative to pairing via the Companion app. https://support.wahoofitness.com/hc/en-us/articles/28126062260370-How-to-use-the-KICKR-Bridge
You are currently pairing the trainer via WiFi, so you should also have the option to pair the trainer via Bluetooth. Any problems with the trainer’s connection to the game can also affect the connection to the Ride controls.
If you remain stuck you should definitely be talking to support.
I tried this as well. No issues with the trainer but even doing it this way requires the handlebars to be detected, which they still will not while in game. (Still fine in companion app though)
I contacted support yesterday and am waiting to hear back
While you wait for help, you do have the option to ride ERG mode workouts since that doesn’t depend on the Ride controls. Just avoid any workouts that have free ride segments.
Nothing.
That is true! Probably my only option until support figures something out.
My PC is older (2018ish) and my other option is trying to connect everything via Bluetooth (without companion app bridging) to a new tablet that I had previously ordered and isn’t here yet. Not sure if that would change anything since the handlebars already previously worked on my PC via bridge
Do you have an ANT+ dongle in the PC? If so, remove that and see if it helps.
The pairing screen pic says no ANT+, trainer on WiFi
Yeah not sure what is going on, but if you want to try Bluetooth on the PC, I would disable any onboard Bluetooth and get a well-traveled USB adapter like the TP-Link UB500. I use a dongle like that (different brand, same chipset) and it works very well. If you have existing Bluetooth that is 4.x version, a more modern one usually helps.
