Think I encountered a bug today. Signed up for an event in Watopia and opted to ride with a friend from the main menu prior. Seems like the friends navigation route persisted even after I joined the start of the event. Turned off from the event bunch on the very first corner. Had to abandon and rejoin the event to get the event auto routing.
