Further changes to Advanced Races

Hi folks,

As part of our continuous improvements to Zwift Racing Score, categorisation and fairness in Zwift Racing, we’ve been listening to all of your ongoing feedback (keep it coming!) and I wanted to summarise some changes that you’ll see in April to the ‘Advanced’ category ZRacing events. Stay tuned for more exciting updates to come in the coming weeks and months!

A. For ZRacing - “After Party” (including some brand new after party routes!):

  1. We will run an expanded schedule, with events running every other hour. We will monitor the take up for this expanded schedule and as time goes on trim events which receive attendances lower than 20, but whilst also ensuring the removal of any events doesn’t lead to a void of events at that time.

  2. A Heart Rate Monitor will be required in order to join Advanced events going forwards - this will bring the events into line with the minimum criteria to feature on ZwiftPower and is the first of a number of additional fairness measures we hope to add to Advanced events over the coming year.

  3. These races will be enforced to riders with scores of 650 and above - this will prevent riders accidentally joining events above their ability and eliminate the possibility of lower ranked riders using Advanced events to manipulate their Zwift Racing Score.

  4. We will increase the range on our Range 2 “normal” races to 725 (from 700). We hope this will provide racers with scores of 650-725 with a softer “Advanced” transition.

B) Epic Races Schedule Expansion

For those of you who have expressed that you want some longer Zwift races on the calendar during the week, we will add Zwift Epic Races to Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s.

As always, I’ll continue to provide further news and updates as I have them.

Thanks,
James
