Hope it’s okay to make this post.
Hi I am looking for riding friends from around the world to keep me company as I Zwift for 24 hours for charity. I start at 7pm (BST) Friday 4th September 2026. I’d like to try and maintain a steady pace 24kmh (15mph) for as much of the ride as possible and would welcome company. If you see me give a wave and a like to get me through the hours. I’m supporting two charities and more can be read at my Just Giving page Paul Greenway The One Love Project.
@Eric_Schlange Would really appreciate any guidance on how to get traction in the Zwift community to support the charity event. Thank you.
Are you active in a big club? That’s a great way to get people to follow you, get alerted when you are riding at the same time, teleport to you, etc. Plus if the club is big it will have people in many time zones. Basically you need a lot of friends.
Hi Paul. I do have some followers already on Zwift but most are in the same time zone as me. I’m hoping to have people join me from around the world as their time zones allow.
Join a big club if you haven’t already, be friendly in your club (in Discord, Facebook, whatever they use) and get more friends. It helps if the club has a lot of distance-focused riders. BMTR and DIRT both have a lot of regular distance riders and big numbers in general.
Doing this with a Watopia RoboPacer is likely to include riding with a group throughout the ride.
I will look at that option James but fancied a bit a mix up over the 24 hrs which is now feeling like a really long time ……. ![]()
It is a really long time, and will feel even longer when you are doing the charity event.
Good luck
My two tips:
- Share it to the Zwift Riders Facebook group.
- Be on a Zwift team and share it with your team (too late for that if you aren’t already)
Unfortunately, I think targeting 24kph will turn off most of the people who would otherwise join you… most riders will want to go faster than that.
Yep. As long I can spin my legs and interact with people I hope to get carried along and let the time fly by……
Thanks Eric…. I’ll have to spin faster then for the 24hrs!
How can we join?
Where will you be riding? Watopia? What course?
I’m not sure Paul will be able to join a women’s only ride.
I know, that was talking to Eric. I tried to get an article on the Women’s events but I didn’t hear anything. It helps to have insight to plan for these special events in advance.
I’ve no set route Zee. if you friend me on companion you can join me through the teleport option. I don’t intend making life difficult for myself so will probably stick to relatively flat routes
Every route is a flat route at 0% trainer difficulty.
Now there’s a thought. To be honest I am not the most knowledgeable around Zwift and it was only talking to friends at the weekend which sparked this thread off. If I can jump between pacer rides, join group rides etc all without having to end ride and start new ones (so I maintain a running record of the time / distance covered) I will be.
You can teleport btwn robopacers and/or mutual followers in a single free ride, no problem.
Alas, 1 group ride = 1 activity. If you start your activity off as a group ride you can keep going once it finishes and still do all your teleporting in whatever world your group ride was in. What you can’t do is join a group ride from an in-play activity, whether that activity is a free ride, group ride or workout.
Thanks David really helpful to know
