I tried the Ramp test today, I had Erg mode set but in the initial “Free 5 Minute Ride” the load displayed on the pedals increased up to 250 watts in the first 30 seconds.
I was under the impression that the first 5 minutes you ride at what ever wattage you are comfortable with and then the wahoo kickr starts loading in 20 watt increments every minute.
Have i got some settings wrong?
I haven’t done the ramp test in some time, but last time I did it, I didn’t have any issues. It should allow you to soft spin if you want during a free ride section, so you should not be forced into 250W there. Have you tried any other workouts with your set-up where the free ride worked properly, or was this the first one? Might be worth trying another ERG workout with a free ride section to confirm those work properly in general on your system.
Maybe someone else has run into this who would have more ideas outside of trying again after an update or restart, but they have been updating the workouts, so there’s always a chance there’s an issue.
Edit: Also might be good to give more info on your setup.
Thanks for this,
I am using a Wahoo Kickr V6, and have tried both a lap top and an Ipad with Zwift as the interface to the Kickr.
Any suggestions on a workout with a “Free Ride”?
I have also tried another workout in Erg mode and it operates fine i.e. the wattage load increases at the intervals detailed.
If you go into the “30-60min to burn” workout section there is a workout called “45min Rider’s Choice” which is all free ride.
