Farmer quotient

811968 / 25764 = 31.52

Using metric so don’t think that’s bad getting an extra 50% per km. Don’t use the TT bike much either, so rarely racking up those bonuses on arches and (outside of the recent L100 push) climb portals.

1298593 XP/30233 miles = 42.95 XP per mile. I categorize myself on Zwift as a “route badge hunter”. Seasonal user (gotta ride outdoors!), been on Zwift since 2017. There are lots more ways to farm XP nowadays compared to when I got started. One of the things I like to do is ride a fully upgraded entry-level frame, especially when I’m free riding or RBHing. I like my Specialized Allez frame, it’s great for both XP and drop point farming!

Is that the right metric or should it be xp/hr of riding. Someone might have a higher xp/km, but fewer xp in the same hours of riding than someone with a lower xp/km riding who has been much faster overall. In that situation who is the “better” farmer?

Not that I’m particularly bothered either way, but just wondering…

The whole thing is a bit pointless since a large portion of the riders did alpe/ventoux decents to get upgrades. There are also people “riding” 23hrs a day for the same purpose.

For people who actually ride… distance vs time is probably whether they prefer solo workouts or group rides. Before Coco existed people needed to do one of the 4 main 100km group rides for real distance per hour.

Another way to look at it instead of time or km is XP/energy exerted - who gets the most XP for the least amount of energy (maybe use pizza slices): XP/slice.

If there was an XP limit per day this would all be very different.

Like the factory challenge where it had some limitations to prevent being gamed (although not completely successful).

People would go back to their intended rides rather than living on the shortest climb portal routes (to reach the infinite highest level faster than everyone else).

Now, there’s an interesting idea. Honestly, humans are gonna do what they do. And, in this setting, I really don’t care what they do. If they’re offensive, I ignore and block and move on. There’s no money, prestige, promotion, relegation, etc. Not even a participation ribbon! Gasp. I am neither a racer nor competitive with anyone. I ride for mental and physical health, pushing back the creep of age.

This is more of a social experiment. I ride and Zwift a lot and have never purposely xp farmed or raced (ok, maybe a few times years ago, I sucked). I mostly ride with various groups and have no affiliation. There are definitely some groups, group leads, and riders that take their xp farming and xp gaming VERY seriously. When I compare my fq (farmer quotient XPt/KMt) to known xp farmers the difference is obvious. 22 xp/km (moi) v 34+ xp/km (them).

Is it helpful for anyone to know who’s a farmer and who isn’t? No. It’s just another interesting data point as we try to make sense of our world. My legs certainly do not care what mine or anyone else’s fq is.

And, fwiw, despite my advancing years my physical and mental fitness continues to improve. I am a physiology nerd and have decades of my data and it’s fascinating. Don’t believe the internet and haters. Age is your secret weapon. Pay attention to your body, ride a lot, eat a lot, rest a lot. Don’t pay attention to others!!! I’ve always wondered why so many on Zwift care about what others are doing. Why care about if I use coffee, why care what bike I am on, why care if I am a flyer?

Lol. All of this would be a nonissue if we all just minded our own business. That’s not very 21st century of me…

Ride on.

50,3012 XP / 20,493 km = 24.55 XP/km

Did one of the new 30 minute workouts last night (on a road bike) on the Whole Lotta Lava route, picking up the extra XP for the Route Chaser challenge, Route of the Week and the Workout challenge. 1084 XP for 17km. Marginal increase to 31.54 XP/Km.

I rode the Whole Lotta Lava on Monday with a new 30 minute workout as well for 5,504 XP over 15 miles, with a Level Up to 102.

Wowsers! Someone must be getting accelerated levelling. I didn’t have anything banked, so flat rate for me.

I’ll run out of my banked XP before Level 102 is completed.

I had a double ADZ ride earlier this week with over 13,000XP. No specific farming, no erg modes, I just got lucky getting the wheels twice. While other days I just get the helmet again.

Oddly enough I rarely get the big XP bonus at the power up sections, I get the wheels at the spinner far more commonly.
