Extreme performance differences during the races

I’m a Zwift newcomer and I have a question about the extreme performance differences during the races:

I have sorted myself into the slowest performance group D. While I am in the slipstream in a group of about 25 riders in the race, I have to stand permanently for 4.2 W / kg to keep up. Others drive in front of me in the same group with a power of 2.5 W / kg.
What factors exist within Zwift that there are these differences? Is it u.a. really so much on which bike with which aerodynamics & Co. you already have?

If you are using a TT/Tri bike then you are getting no draft benefit and have to put out a lot more watts to keep up with the pack.
