ErG has been disabled and is restartiing

Hi there,

I have been using the build me up plan for a few months now and my ERG has has been solid as a rock; however when I did the Serrated workout 1:30 The ERG mode disabled itself about ten times. Naturally I thought it was a comms issue.

Two days later on the Exigent workout the ERG never missed a beat.

Could there be a bug in the Serrated workout?

have done 2 workouts since over 2 hrs 30 and ERG has not missed a beat. So i still think there is an issue with the serrated workout code.

Hi @Mrburns, welcome to the Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.

To help isolate whether this was a one‑off glitch or something tied to that specific workout, I’d recommend following the steps in our official ERG Mode Troubleshooting guide. This will help narrow down whether the behavior is related to connectivity, trainer response, or workout structure.

We also have an article that explains how ERG mode interacts with workouts: ERG Mode in Workouts. Since you mentioned the issue only happened in Serrated but not in Exigent, this resource may give you more context on why ERG can behave differently depending on interval design.

Thanks for sticking with us.

Ride On.

Thank you for that update; its appreciated.

As you are probably aware this workout does not have free spinning, you are having to pedal all the time. All the occurrences happened while continuously pedalling and resulted in the 0 watts and me pedalling like mad suddenly until ERG kicked in again.

As noted above the ERG mode has been rock solid before and after this workout which I why I suspect the coding. The equipment was In exactly the same place as always and I ensured my iphone was not in the vicinity of the ANT connection. The ant connector is 5 ft from the transmitter.

Naturally the trainer could also have thrown a wobbly.

When I have finished my training i will go back to that workout and check it out again. If it happens second time around then logically its the workout.
