We promised, and it’s finally here: the Zwift virtual shifting update for standard Direto XR and Direto XR-T models is now live on Upgrado!
Update your firmware in just a few steps and transform your Direto XR or XR-T into a trainer that’s fully compatible with Zwift’s Cog and Click for virtual shifting.
Entonces? Existe esa actualización? Desde mi app Upgrade no consigo actualizar.
Mi última version es: firmware 80 revisión de hardware 5 para Direto XR
The date on the web page article was 9 December. So presumably the page was found online earlier than it should have been, and 9 December is probably the scheduled release date for the update.
We’re waiting for the firmware update for direto XR.
Maybe today?
But one question, I think I will buy the Zwift Ride when the update will be ok.
But will I also have to buy the Zwift cog and click in more, or is the no freehub version cog included with the ZwiftRide ?
(Sorry for my Bad English)
It works only with the new Elite Direto Software and it is important, that all devices are connectet over bluetooth (not with ANT+. because it does not work)…
I updated the software and now I don’t have transmission of power(recognized via companion app) and the cadence is not accurate ! Ant+ works fine ! Via android app it works fine (but not the virtaul gear shifting…) !
As a long time Zwift user, I bought a Zwift Ride setup for my Directo XR-T too early and was eagerly awaiting the fimware update so I could use Zwift without being restricted to ERG sessions. I upgraded my Elite firmware last week and was excited to see I now had access to virtual shifting, steering etc. BUT day1, Erg mode now doesn’t work, no change in resistance, just spinning between 70 and 120 watts depending on cadence. Also the shifting, while making noises at the trainer didn’t change the resistance. Day 2 and my trainier now increases resistance automatically over a period of around 5 seconds, from easy to impossible, workout or free ride.
Has anyone actually got it to work properly? Am I doing something wrong?
Unfortunately you’re hitting the current limitations of the Direto XR when used with the Zwift Ride, or more specifically - the limits of the Direto XR when used with 42/14 gearing. The resistance unit/flywheel has an inherent resistance floor of around 130-140W at ~90rpm. It simply can’t go any lower than that. I suspect this could be improved by using a 19 tooth cog on the rear. This should lower that resistance floor, and is something I’m looking to experiment with. (Although if this does solve the problem then it’s not much use as the Zwift Cog is a 14T only).
I find the virtual gears on the Direto XR to be heavily biased towards gears 17-24. Using gears lower than 10 results in the trainer feeling like it is set to a very low ‘trainer difficulty’.
This is very interesting, but also confusing to me.
In the past (so not on the latest firmware that supports virtual shifting) I’ve certainly done workouts on my Direto XR-T that have some blocks with lower power targets than that.
Am missing something? Is this issue specific to virtual shifting rather than ERG mode?
