@Shiggy_WiggyWoo welcome to Zwift forums.
I looked at your session logs out of curiosity. Your iPad was running version 1.0.49822 during the Pride ride this morning. It appears the same thing happened to you as the others.
Please double check that your iOS device is set to auto update your apps.
I have the same issue - did the Pride Ride this evening and the kit is not available. Didn’t even think to update Zwift as it just became available on AppleTV.
I’m disappointed with Zwift’s response to this issue. Zwift needs to do better. Perhaps a message should be displayed when launching the app that a newer version is available. Or better- find a way to push out minor graphic changes and kits without requiring an update.
When Zwift consistently has updates that don’t cause problems it might make sense to enable auto updates. Until then maybe find a better response to addressing this issue. I’d also suggest being a bit more empathetic - not everyone is able to do another Pride Ride.
Bonjour. The same for me. This situation concerne Many people I think… anyway, we will take part to thé évent again!
Next Time : maybe this detail about app Level should Be added on the First invitation email.
Is everyone on this thread who didn’t get the kit running Zwift on an iOS device? And, if so, do you have it set to NOT automatically update your apps? My understanding is that iOS devices are the only ones that allow this, though I suppose it could be true for Android devices, also.
Whatever the case, I sympathize with your frustrations. However, I think you need to take some responsibility in this, also. Zwift put out the update several days before the first Pride event, and it was noted in the release notes that the Pride kit was one of the things added.So, if you did the ride and didn’t get the kit because you weren’t updated that’s really on you, as the user.
I run Zwift on Apple TV and have the auto-update feature turned off. For me this is because, as someone mentioned above, sometimes the updates are buggy and I want to check the forum comments for anything major before doing so. However, I have also gotten into the habit of starting Zwift directly from the updates page of the Apple TV so that I at least know if there is an update available. If I choose not to update at that time (due to time constraints or some other reason) I can still ride by just going back to the main screen and opening Zwift directly from there, but if something doesn’t work that is on me for not having updated, not on Zwift. Of course, by doing this I may also have avoided a newly introduced issue, like losing Training Peaks workouts, so sometimes you have to make a choice.
In this case, you still have nearly an entire month to do one more ride (after updating, that is) in order to get the jersey. That doesn’t seem like too big of an ask, especially when the Zwift folks are busy trying to fix actual issues (which are sometimes self-inflicted). In the grand scheme of things this is pretty small, so let’s take a deep breath, update our apps, and move on.
The solution must come from ZWIFT. Don’t allow riders to join the event, if they haven’t updated the programs. How hard can it be!
Every time there is a new event, we have theese discussions, where riders haven’t updated, and don’t get the kit.
Even with auto-update turned on, devices don’t always update apps immediately. It’s a common misconception that catches a lot of people out. Sometimes it takes several days, and with a device like the Apple TV that may not be in constant use (like a phone or tablet) the chances of missing the update before a ride are even higher. And yep, it applies to every platform except for PC and Mac.
Yep totally agree - they really need to look at a solution that informs the user their version needs updated for that particular event if this is a regular occurrence.
…or fly off through the air, or go the wrong way, or go at crazy speeds, or the game crashes…
The note in the Companion app is good, but not everyone uses it. There must be a way of making updates more visible, particularly if they fundamentally change/fix things.
Maybe the app thinks you already have it so didn’t unlock it for you?
To avoid having to ride it each time you want to try to get the kit, because it is a time based event you can log in, join the event, start the event and leave the app running for the 60 minutes. Maybe you have to cross the start line maybe not, I joined late this morning and got the ride assist that comes with joining late, then I went back to bed (it was too early) and received the kit.
@J_Making
I took at your session logs from your ride this morning. I see you did this one, completed and everything.
Bad news, then good news: Your Apple TV was still on game version 1.0.49822. That’s several generations old. Apple TV does not always auto-update apps, and I’m going to guess that’s what’s going on with yours. I’ve personally seen the Apple TV we have at the Zwift office not auto-update, so I know this is a thing.
Here’s the good news - I’ll ask our team to credit you the kit, because you’ve earned it twice. Give us a chance to get back to work next week to handle that?
Hi, my problem is worse, I completed the ride, but the save failed! I have never had this problem before on Zwift and I rode only yesterday. I have photo evidence that I did the ride… can you help please…? I really wanted to unlock the kit to wear during June.
How frustrating to do the run this morning and not get the kit! Seeing we were supposed to update before hand is even more annoying without any warning at all! If my app is not updated don’t let me run it!
As others have said surely Zwift team can check who has completed a race a push the kit back out to everyone!!?? (I have updated but no kit, and even no email either)
Really trying to keep my running to a minimum as I suffer from long-standing tendinitis in my ankle, really don’t want to have to run it again!
[edit] my wife did the 11am run after my 8am run and got the kit immediately before even that race started! Guess the takeaway is to just update, and then re-enter and then it does not matter if you complete!!!
