Device Pairing Updates in Zwift [September 2026]

I can’t even successfully do a calibration now by ant-+, because my Bluetooth connection is not working anymore after the update. Im pissed.

I like it, but why not tell me which equipment is and isn’t paired yet? Then I’d know which one to touch…

Question. I have turned that auto pairing off in the settings. Why is it I still see that widget trying to auto pair in the bottom right of the screen.

I have a Stages SB20.It uses dual pairing. When i connected the new way,if i coasted it felt like being in Erg mode when pedalling again.

I’ve gone back to the old method.

I have as well. It’s complicated enough getting my devices to pair correctly (core temperature and heart rate) - the old screen lets me see right away if the heart rate is streamed properly or if I have to quit Zwift then mess around with device pairing in the Core App.

Very underwhelming with that Core device. Their phone app is not nice either. It is useful to have that device, but they could make it work more easily.

I feel like I’m in the silent group, but I want to say I haven’t actually run into any issues (assuming I remember to enable my USB plug first… more on that in a sec) with the new background pairing on either my W10 machine or an old Macbook.

On to the mention of the usb situation on my W10 machine; I have my zwift stuff on a long extension USB with an on/off connection switch, and I’m not actually sure if this was the case before the changes, but if I fail to flip that switch (which gives power to things like my keyboard, mouse, ANT+ and BLE antennas), it does not appear to recover from the lack of antennas when Zwift starts, and thus needs a hard program restart.
I don’t forget to do that often, almost never really.. but sometimes I get ahead of myself.
Again, no idea if that was the same issue previously, but it can be now for sure.

Other than that.. I have not personally had an issue with either setup:
W10 and Kickrbike V1 on BLE and Garmin Dual HRM on ANT+
Mac Catalina and Tacx 2T + Alpine and Garmin Dual on BLE

The option to disable background pairing is not available in the Run settings.
I was going to do a treadmill run this morning, the auto-pairing went to the Ride home screen since my last activity on Zwift was a ride.
I switched to Running, went to Settings to disable the background pairing option, but it wasn’t there.

I’ve had to switch this function off, it keeps crashing the Zwift app. I’m using Zwift on tvOS and a Wahoo Kickr Core V2, Zwift clicks connected directly to the Apple TV and Garmin HRM dual bridged via the Kickr. Once all the devices show connected, Zwift crashes.

Which Apple TV model do you have? Is it the A1625 or something else?

Hi Paul, Apple TV 4K 1st generation, Model number: A1842.

OK that is not the worst system (the A1625 seems to be having major problems but it has even less memory). The first things I would try if you want to avoid crashes:

  1. Install any tvOS updates available for the device and reboot it
  2. Always force-quit the app after every time you use it: Force Closing Zwift

That system is still supported by Zwift so you can talk to support about it if you want, but it’s approaching 10 years since it was released and it has very minimal system resources by modern standards.

Thanks Paul, I have the latest tvOS update (although not tvOS 27 as it wasn’t rolled out to this model) and I always force quit the app before switching off the Apple TV device. I’m wondering if it’s to do with the HR bridging from the Kickr

I’ll be surprised if it matters but it is something you have the ability to easily control so it wouldn’t be crazy to try

Can we please please please go back to the stuff that works?!? FFS GUYS! Do I really have to delete known devices every time I was to pair my Saris H3 trainer?

For the record, this is what I would expect. Turned off auto pair, ended the ride and was able to connect without restarting the game entirely.

It was stated in the patchnotes that ANT+ wasn’t working correctly at the moment but should auto connect (my stuff does at least).

But whatever the issue is of it not appearing is slated to be fixed in the patch I’m assuming will be releasing next week.

Generally speaking there shouldn’t be a reason to go into the pairing screen anymore.
Wake your stuff up, turn the game on, and if it was connected previously, will/should connect.

It’s both Bluetooth and ANT+ nothing shows up initially for the Saris turbo.

I would skip the pairing screen but the thing does not work. If/when it does, I’ll be glad to stop visiting this topic entirely.

What might have seemed like an epic solution from your part-.. hasn’t been that smooth on the other side..-..

My setup is as follows:

zwift via laptop, using iPad for companion, bpm is broadcasted from my Garmin fenix 7 s pro-… using iPhone for music.-…same WiFi all over.-.. I’ve rarely had any issues connecting.-.. in the 10 years I’ve ridden on Zwift -.. your new update -.. and the one just before seems to have made a mess..-.. . And no matter how I try to connect.-.. keeping phone far away from laptop, before broadcasting bpm-.. or unpairing the pairing my watch.-… my bpm keeps freezing and-.. if ina a race .-.. would get me DQ… and in any ride make my stats all wonky…-. - getting stats that say you’ve ridden 100km at pace 43,4kpm/ with 82bpm.. that’s total nonsense…-.

So is it another glitch you will focus on getting fixed-.. or is it a “me problem “..

Looking at the forum I don’t seem to be the only one with that problem.

Nuse-.. the automatic connection would be epic if it actually worked-.. and yep just did the newest update today/. And still doesn’t work-. Can’t fool anyone with a constant 82 bpm on a ride over 5minutes-. No one is that consistent in their bpm and endurance-.. , if 82bpm is my average on a hundo ride avg pace 43kpm-.. then what would my resting bpm be.??. Close to zero.-.. ?.

I’ll ask In the clown bus

Isn’t there a known issue with this watch for HRM right now, still unclear if it is a Garmin issue or Zwift?

There is a problem with virtual run with the Fenix 7 after the last Garmin firmware update, but I don’t think the symptoms match what Malene is reporting.

@Unicorn_MaleneEhlers are you pairing the Fenix 7 for HR directly to the laptop via Bluetooth, or ANT+, or via Companion, or bridged through your trainer? Which trainer model do you have? (Your answer might open other pairing options for the watch.)
