Does anyone know how the scoring works.
There is a “D” cat rider who is ranked second overall who hasn’t made podium in a single race……

It’s based on time, not finishing position. Staying with the leaders in the rides with the largest number of participants is usually the way to get up the GC. It heavily favors the prime time races.

Basically look for the races with the most ppl! 
and get teammates to do an FTP test at the front of the group. I did that for a member of my club and it was savage work for probably a few seconds gain

As other said it’s based on time which to compete with the fastest you really have to do the peak European time slots. usually Monday/Tuesday 5-7pm UK gets the fastest time of the week I’ve found.
