When I cycle outside without a power meter but with a heart rate monitor, my training just shows up as grey and it doesn’t seem to have much of an effect on my training status or training score. It feels like my outdoor effort based on heart rate alone isn’t having the effect as the indoor trainer. Do I need a power meter to gain training score from outdoor rides?
Yes, I wish it could do some estimation from HR data however too.
OK, guess I’ll be getting a power meter then!

You deserve it ![]()
It’s great for outdoor data. I got my first one around 2004 and I have all that historical data available so I can see how I’m doing against my numbers when I was not old.
(sorry for the deleted posts, haven’t used the forum yet)
I’m already old, but not at peak fitness, so I guess I get to watch the numbers go up, and then slowly grind down as I get older ![]()
