Climb portal Q?

Serious question. Beyond XP farming, why waste the climb portal on a climb like “Cheddar Gorge” especially when the monthly climb is also a mole hill?

Rotation.

And, really, why do any climbs?

So 42/60 climb portal options this month are Cat.3 with some not even being ranked as climbs. 44 if you want to include the Le Turbie “cat. 2” pairing of two climbs connected by a material downhill. Quick maths puts the climb portal at about 70% efforts that you couldn’t even do a traditional 20 minute FTP test on.

Without counting the days I don’t think thats materially different then the last couple of months either.

Add the Ohio overpass or the top of Ohio to that too.

hey I did 1,800 ft of climbing yesterday just south of Cleveland, we have plenty of hills here, especially the more south you go.

We are in the Ohio River Valley now days but growing up in the corn fields of Columbus, I fell in love with riding in Hocking Hills. We have a lot of lovely 5-8 minute climbs upwards of 25% around the state but nothing worthy enough to warrant a special climb portal and that’s okay. I’d rather the gaps of Georgia, almost anything substantial in Colorado, California, etc. if we are sticking to domestic US climbs.
