I was able to create custom workouts (.ZWO) files using Claude AI 🤖 but had trouble figuring out how to get those to show up in my iPad. Here’s my journey on using Claude to create custom .ZWO workouts and then getting them to my iPad.

Claude has a Zwift connector, but not Garmin. Just ask Claude to connect to Zwift and enter your Zwift login credentials. Claude evaluated my activities and fitness level by reviewing my last 100 Zwift activities. (You’ll need to give Claude a time frame / range for activity review.) Claude asked me what my training goals were and voila! Structured 4-Week Progressive Block Workout created and ready for .ZWO file import from Claude to PC to iPad! 🤩 🎉

This is where the hard part of the process was in trying to get these .ZWO files to my iPad started. 🤷‍♂️

Claude actually didn’t help here as it’s suggestions proved futile. I’ve since given Claude the answers found after searching through the Zwift forum and found this article entitled, “Importing\_Custom\_Workouts\_Today’s\_Plan\_or\_TrainingPeaks”. (You cannot paste URL’s into these forum replies, so just search for that title.) Alternatively, I’ve copied/pasted both the Mac and PC instructions here for easy reference:

**Importing from .zwo Files (Mac/PC )**

Imported workouts are available on all devices after restarting Zwift. Files larger than 64 KB are only available on the computer used for import.

**Mac**

1. Copy the .zwo file.
2. Open **Finder**.
3. Go to **Documents** \> **Zwift** \> **Workouts**.
4. Open your Zwift ID folder (numeric).
5. Paste the file into the folder.

**PC**

1. Copy the .zwo file.
2. Locate the **Z** icon in the notification area of the taskbar.
  - If needed, select **˄** to show hidden icons.

3. Right-click the **Z** icon and select **Open Logs Folder**.
4. In the file path, select **Zwift**.
5. Select **Workouts**.
6. Open your Zwift ID folder (numeric).
7. Paste the file into the folder.

I followed the above PC instructions and successfully imported the .ZWO files to my PC! Afterwards, the workouts showed up in the PC Zwift app under Workouts \> Custom but not immediately on my iPad. 😖

As a last ditch effort, I figured I’d reboot my iPad and relaunched Zwift and then the custom workouts were synched! 🤞 Yay! 🎉

Now you to can enjoy your Claude AI Coaching experience! 💪 🚴‍♂️

P.S. Dear Zwift @shooj, I’m a Product Manager so hit me up should an awesome opportunity arise!

😉 🙏

Nice! I also built a Claude tool to help me and my friends with the training. But I found that using intervals.icu API was the best solution for me. Then my AI coach read my health/HRV data, read my workouts and write workouts to my calendar. I chat with it using Discord. Then I can do the workouts it prescribes in Zwift, Garmin, Wahoo etc. So I just chat with it using my phone and everything else is done automatically (no file sync etc). Really nice having “someone” follow up on my training and being honest about what’s happening. And also, it keep nagging me to do strength training since I’m 45+ even if I rather just want to ride my bike…

Just checking: Claude telling me they only have a Strava connector, nothing for Zwift. Is that as you see it? Thanks.

@Chris_Dyke That’s what I saw too: Claude’s built-in connectors cover Strava (and Garmin) but not Zwift. So I built my own small Zwift connector for Claude Desktop on my Mac. It took about 20 minutes, and Claude Code wrote most of it.

**What I did:**

1. In Claude Code, I asked it to create a local MCP server (Model Context Protocol, the way Claude Desktop talks to outside tools) in TypeScript/Node.js.
2. It started with the `zwift-mobile-api` npm package, but that turned out to be a dead end. The package logs in as Zwift’s “Developer Client”, and Zwift now blocks that with a 403 for normal accounts. Claude rewrote it to log in the same way the Zwift game app does, which worked.
3. It added three tools:
  - **get-rider-profile** : FTP, weight, max HR, etc.
  - **get-activities** : your ride history (name, route, date, time, distance, elevation, avg power, calories), with paging to go further back
  - **get-activity** : full details for one ride (avg/max power, avg/max HR, cadence, speed, FTP on the day, workout stars)

4. It added the server to `claude_desktop_config.json` with my Zwift email/password as environment variables. After a restart of Claude Desktop, the Zwift tools showed up.

Now I can just ask things like “show my last 5 Zwift rides and compare power and HR on the hardest one,” and it pulls the data straight from Zwift. No Strava needed. Combined with the .zwo import steps from the first post, you get the whole loop: Claude looks at your rides, builds the workouts, and you drop the files into Documents \> Zwift \> Workouts \> (your ID folder).

**Caveats:**

- This isn’t an official Zwift API. It uses the same endpoints as the game app, so Zwift could change or break it anytime.
- Your Zwift password sits in plain text in a local config file. It’s only on your own machine, but be aware of it.
- It needs Claude Desktop plus Node.js installed, so it’s a bit technical. If you have Claude Code, though, you can literally paste in a description like the one above and it’ll build it for you.

Happy to share more details if anyone wants to try it. Ride On!

Another option would be to integrate with a service that has access to the Zwift API to push workouts to Zwift, such as intervals.icu
