Changes to Score Ranges on Zwift Owned ZRS events

Sorry - my mistake. I’ll get them reverted back.

But it is only 6 points.

20+ riders for the D Category has been the norm recently.

Hi James,

Have scoring ranges for Women’s events been set?
Will they be the same as the Zwift Women’s Racing this summer?
(Mostly just curious).

Stage 5 Pinarello events all seem to be back to the old ranges - even the Low/High end split events.

I think it’s an issue with our bulk edit tool (I’ve had to do this every week for the last 2 months).

I’ve tried to correct these.

the group i was in today was 400-450 words saying 400-435 @James_Zwift

Hiya Susan.

I’ve suggested to the women’s group that run the women’s races to use the following initially and make changes if they feel it warrants it
0-150
150-300
300-400
400-500
500+

I raced in these and it was a flat out bad experience this past weekend in the zwift labs crit… If it’s only divided by 5 pens what is the point anymore? I’m a 536 racing score, on a good day with alot of caffeine my 20 min is gonna be 3.9 w/kg max, race was won by a guy soloing at 4.5 w/kg…

I had so much hope for racing score and the earlier trials last month were the best racing I’ve ever done, but these bands ain’t it.

The racing score are all over the place it seems…it almost feels like nothing has really changed…

does it feel that way from all those thousands of zwift races you apparently did, or does it feel that way because you read a couple of salty comments on the forums?

I don’t know, lets just say, I’ve been around the block for a few years…(do you remember the CVR worldcup?)

I would think the ability range would be a lot wider for ZRS vs CE.

There would be less sandbagging under ZRS than CE but at the same time you will have people much stronger than the fields.

Pens would be much smaller as there are as many as 10 Pens per race.

Often times racing would be less engaging since many would be riding ITT style,

Agree, but it seems people are still working the system. When you have a B rider over 719+ and you have A rider at 600 or even in the 500 you would think something is off. With more metrics on screen it seems even easier to work it also…

Had an A rider last night in the 350-520 crit race last night

It is definitely off, but we seem to be going the route of let’s make it common and fix it as we move along.

It is going to be horrible for sprinters and riders going to figure out never to show their sprinting powers because you do it once it is game over for the next 90 days.

Would be interesting to see does 30s power still a relevant data point 90 days after ZRS launches on the main stream. I am guessing everyone starts to put in long range attacks.

Or figure out exactly how many meters a 30 sec sprint is, and launch to make sure to get the effort under. An unsaid collective agreement.
This is race dependent of course.

This won’t work. The slope of the power curve would be higher.

Imagine if you put a 15s atk. You might be doing 15s of 1000 watts and 500 watts prior as a lead in.

But if you string the power out to 25 you might be doing 800 watts average power.

Also the grade which you end changes the atk a lot. The lead up on the final approach on Country is like 5% but you do the course reverse it is -5%.

Of course it depends. My point was that racers will learn to not put in a 30 sec sprint.
